Chief Financial Officer

Job Brief:

To lead the finance function ensuring financial integrity, strategic financial planning, and sound risk management. Serve as the Finance Business Partner to the subsidiary’s business, providing financial insights to support decision-making, drive profitability, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

• Financial Leadership:
• Oversee all financial activities including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to the leadership team, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and objectives
• Partner with the Group Chief Financial Officer (GCFO) to ensure consistency in financial practices across the group
• Business Partnering:
• Act as the primary Finance Business Partner offering insights and support in financial planning and decision-making
• Collaborate with other business units to optimize financial performance and drive profitability
• Financial Reporting and Compliance:
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and group policies
• Oversee the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and regulatory filings.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies
• Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Lead the annual budgeting process including the development of financial plans, forecasts, and long-term financial strategies
• Monitor financial performance against budgets, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions as needed
• Risk Management and Internal Controls:
• Develop and maintain a robust internal control environment to mitigate financial risks
• Collaborate with the Risk team to ensure that financial risks are identified, assessed, and managed effectively
• Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure effective audits and compliance with audit requirements
• Team Leadership and Development:
• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
• Ensure the finance team is equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet business objectives
• Stakeholder Management:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the leadership team Group CFO, Group Executive Committee, board members, regulators, auditors, and external partners
• Present financial information and analysis to the board and senior management as required
  
  
  

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA) is required

Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the insurance industry. Familiarity with IFRS 17 is essential

Skills: Strong financial acumen, strategic thinking, and business partnering skills. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Knowledge of Malaysian financial regulations, IFRS 17, and accounting standards

Certifications: Membership in a recognized professional accounting body

Integrity and Professionalism: Demonstrates the highest level of integrity and professionalism in all dealings.

Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of financial principles, including IFRS 17, budgeting, and financial reporting, essential for driving financial performance

Strategic Leadership: Ability to develop and execute financial strategies that align with TPM business goals, driving growth and profitability

Risk Management: Expertise in identifying and mitigating financial risks, with a strong focus on maintaining robust internal controls

Stakeholder Management: Strong communication and relationship-building skills to manage key stakeholders, including the subsidiary CEO, group CFO, and regulators
