Your role and responsibilities

Join us as a Commercial Operations Manager (TQS), you will be responsible to formulate competitive techno-commercial proposals, taking into consideration on best available solution / product mix, for each individual opportunity assigned to you. Ensures bids & proposals are well documented in a timely manner and with appropriate level of detail, including full and accurate costs. As the custodian of bids and proposal, you will collaborate with extended stakeholders (i.e., sales, tax, contract management, finance, project, engineering, product & leadership) and ensuring all risk review processes, assessments & approvals are adhered/documented in the preparation of techno-commercial proposals.

This role is contributing to the Process Automation Energy Industries Business based in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Formulating competitive bids and proposals, considering best available solution / product mix and appropriate technical and commercial considerations for each individual situation.
  • Managing the preparation of all technical (e.g., defining the most suitable technology and product type(s)), financial (e.g., total price sheet, cash flow analysis) and if necessary, project management (e.g., quantifies hours of engineering and commissioning) aspects of the bid/estimate/quotation, indicating prices and trading conditions.
  • In accordance with bid/estimate/quotation planning, ensuring that inputs for editing activities are provided on time and according to established quality procedures.
  • Managing external services to support bid/estimation preparation such as translations and governmental approvals.
  • Collecting and archiving documentation regarding the offer/order and recording assumptions and decisions taken during the development process.
  • Reporting regularly the status of the bids/estimates/quotations using defined tools and collecting and analyzing the reasons for tenders being lost and won.
  • Identifying potential risks in the bids, and estimates, and in any related contract agreements across customers/channels.
  • The role involves contributing to risk assessments, managing terms and conditions negotiations with customers, and identifying and evaluating potential suppliers for project equipment and materials, all in alignment with company policies.


Qualifications For The Role

  • Degree majored in Automation & Electrical Engineering or any equivalent qualification.
  • More than 5 years plus working experience in Tendering/Bid in the Automation industry (Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Chemical & Refinery and Petrochemicals).
  • Prior and proven experience working ABB portfolio/Automation Technology, especially for Control System and Electrical solutions are mandatory.
  • Pricing and negotiation skills with Vendor/Client/EPC/Contractor etc and ability to lead/front tender discussions.
  • Leadership through influence, problem solving, team-working, communication, result orientation complete the profile.
  • Fluency in English is a must, both written and spoken. Full proficiency in local language represents an advantage.
