Job Summary

The role requires the SM to assist the Head of Finance in budget, capital reporting function and balance sheet management. The SM plays a critical role in ensuring the regulatory requirements on the necessary ratios are met in line with BNM requirements. This includes ECL provisioning on a monthly basis to ensure the MFRS 9 requirements are met. The SM is also pivotal in ensuring the cash management process is in place to ensure sufficient funds are available for operational purposes of the Bank and to ensure expenses are made in line with budget. The SM will also need to prepare a presentation related to budget and forecast as and when required for the purpose of presentation to shareholders, regulators and management.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage personnel involved in computation of ECL of the financial assets portfolio on a monthly basis.
  • Manage teams which are responsible for Accounts Payable (AP) function. This is to ensure sufficient funds are available to pay commitments and the leverage and liquidity ratios are met.
  • Assist the Head of Finance in annual budget exercise for preparation of overall bank-wide Budget and presentation in terms of balance sheet and capital management after consolidating the budgeted opex/capex done by the Financial Reporting team. This includes monthly and quarterly updates on the forecast against budgeted financials to be reported to the holding company in Japan and shareholder in Malaysia.
  • Ensure AP processes and payments are performed/completed in an accurate and timely manner by the team. This includes accruals are made on time to avoid volatility of expenses on monthly basis.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and manage subordinates by providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Set clear objectives and conduct regular performance evaluations with team members.
  • Foster a collaborative culture with other division to ensure smooth inter-divisional
  • work processes and relationships.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, tax authorities, regulators and financial institutions, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to the Head of Finance and CFO on matters related to budget and capital management.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Masters’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CPA or CFA are preferred.
  • Minimum 8 - 10 years’ experience in a senior-level finance management role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, regulatory reporting, forecasting and treasury operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software and tools, as well as MS Excel and financial modeling techniques.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
