The Specialist – Sustainability Strategy is a critical member of our Sustainability team which is responsible for advancing the Baker Hughes’ environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) strategy and performance. You will be part of a team that drives our global sustainability strategy, ensuring that we keep ahead of rapidly evolving expectations, disclosures, and regulations to maintain a world class program.

You will work collaboratively across the business to track progress and report our ESG performance. This will include coordinating global and country-level ESG disclosures, and creating and maintain key ESG metric dashboards for accuracy and visibility. Additionally, you will contribute to the Sustainability Support Center, the hub for sustainability request management to ensure data quality, enable collaboration, and reduce risk for Baker Hughes.

Given the changing landscape of global ESG reporting regulations, this role is intended to support the company’s compliance with those activities. This could involve multiple aspects of the ESG data collection process including: monitoring, expediting, summarizing, and communicating progress at regular intervals to ensure Baker Hughes meets ESG reporting requirements in various jurisdictions.

Additionally, you will be responsible for:


  • Data collection, management, and analysis for Sustainability (ESG) reporting, including but not limited to: presentations, survey responses, regulatory disclosures, and verifications.
  • Optimizing internal procedures, particularly in developing and maintaining proper data collection and reporting controls, given systems and reporting framework maturity.
  • Address queries for ESG data or other sustainability-related topics, as requested and directed from management
  • Working with the business to develop scalable processes to collect and report on environmental data, including: greenhouse gas emissions, targets, roadmaps and solutions.
  • Maintaining positive, proactive relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Leading Tender/Commercial responses pertaining to ESG related disclosures.
  • Working on procurement/sourcing platforms to provide and submit ESG data to customers and vendors. Prior experience with Ariba and/or other procurement/sourcing platforms is an advantage.
  • Document preparation and compilation for ESG related disclosures and reporting using cloud-based software platforms. Knowledge and experience with XaitPorter/Workiva for document preparation is an advantage.
  • The use of Enterprise CRM to track and integrate commercial opportunities and their correlated ESG requests. Knowledge and experience with Deal Machine is an advantage.

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in science, business, supply chain or related field
  • Have experience working with interdisciplinary teams (e.g. Sustainability, Procurement Teams, Business teams, Engineering) and managing relationships/customer service with complex stakeholders
  • Have demonstrated flexibility and experience and willingness to learn and work on projects
  • Have experience with data management and report preparation
  • Be able to advance multiple priorities in parallel and work independently
  • Have strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
  • Have high attention to detail
  • Be a team player with unquestionable integrity
  • Have strong verbal and written communication abilities in English
