Job Responsibility

  • Component Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of optical components, lenses, metal barrels, and related materials to ensure they meet specified quality standards before assembly.
  • Optical Testing: Utilize specialized testing equipment to verify optical characteristics, including clarity, focal length, aberrations, and coating quality.
  • Dimensional Accuracy: Verify that lenses and metal components meet precise dimensional specifications using calibrated measurement tools.
  • Metal Barrel Inspection: Examine metal barrels for defects, ensuring they meet the required specifications for fit, finish, and structural integrity.
  • Surface Finish and Coating Inspection: Evaluate the quality and consistency of surface finishes, coatings, and treatments applied to both the optical components and metal barrels.
  • Assembly Process Oversight: Monitor the assembly process to identify any deviations from established procedures or specifications, ensuring correct alignment and mounting.
  • Documenting Procedures: Create and maintain detailed documentation outlining assembly procedures, quality standards, and inspection protocols specific to optics.
  • Lens Centering: Verify that lenses are properly centered and aligned within optical systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Interferometric Testing: Conduct interferometric tests to assess the surface quality and shape of optical components.
  • Lens Coating Inspection: Evaluate the quality and consistency of lens coatings, ensuring they meet optical specifications for reflection and transmission.
  • Identifying Non-Conformities: Identify and document any non-conforming optical components, metal barrels, or processes, and work with production teams to rectify issues promptly.
  • Implementing Corrective Actions: Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop and implement corrective actions for identified quality issues.
  • Cleanroom Environment Adherence: Ensure that the assembly process is conducted in a controlled and clean environment to prevent contamination of optical surfaces.
  • Metrology Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the calibration and maintenance of specialized metrology equipment used for optical and metal measurements.
  • Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with procurement to assess and monitor the quality of supplied optical components and metal barrels, ensuring they meet required standards.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis to determine the underlying reasons for quality issues and implement preventive measures.
  • Final Product Inspection: Perform final inspections on completed optical systems with metal barrels to ensure they meet all specified quality requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, suggesting and implementing enhancements to processes and procedures.
  • Generate required: Documentation from Bills of material (BOM), Work Instructions to assembly drawings.
  • Customer and Supplier Feedback: Work closely with supplier and customer to solve the quality issue.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Optics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment covering the full scope of QA systems, processes and audit requirements
  • Proven experience in quality assurance within optical lens assembly with metal components.
  • Strong knowledge of optics principles, lens manufacturing processes, and optical testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools, and metal testing equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, particularly in assessing optical and metal properties.
  • Proficiency in using quality management software and tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of industry-specific quality standards and regulations in optics and metal component manufacturing.
  • Able to travel and audit suppliers.
