Job Purpose

  • Creating, reviewing and enforcing data policies for effective data monitoring and surveillance.
  • Formulating approaches and techniques for data monitoring and surveillance to ensure completeness, accuracy, recency, validity and integrity on bank’s data health.
  • Devising and proposing efficient and secure procedures for data and analysis with attention to data accuracy and completeness

Accountabilities

  • Devise and implement efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis for the purpose of data monitoring and surveillance.
  • Lead in projects to ensure adequate data validation and data security/controls are in placed covering Data quality, Data privacy, Data confidentiality and Data accesses.
  • Manage Metadata, Data Catalog and Data Lineage.
  • Monitor to ensure that data retention and disposal activities are in accordance with Data Governance Guidelines.
  • Liaise with Bank’s IT Division on any pertinent matters with regards to Data Quality Management which requires IT’s involvement.
  • Manage the Data Quality Tool (DQT) to ensure the data profiling rules comply to the expected Bank’s Data requirement.
  • Conduct periodic engagement with Data Stewards on data quality matters.
  • Coordinate monthly data stewards’ meetings.
  • Provide update/support to Head DG in updating to Senior Management in the DG Council Meeting.

Key Activities To Carry Out On Data Quality

  • Detect and correct errors - such as missing values, incorrect formatting, or outliers. Once detected these issues, take appropriate actions to rectify the errors and ensure data accuracy.
  • Identify anomalies - to understand data quality issues like entry errors or system malfunctions. By promptly identifying and investigating these anomalies, to address underlying quality problems and prevent them from affecting decision-making processes.
  • Ensure data completeness - by verifying that all required fields are populated and complete. To fill in any gaps and make sure that the data is comprehensive.
  • Maintain data consistency - across different datasets and systems to identify and resolve discrepancies, harmonize data formats, and maintain a unified information view.
  • Track data quality metrics - to assess the overall health of bank’s data. These metrics could include data accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and integrity. By regularly monitoring these metrics, to set benchmarks, identify areas for improvement, and establish data quality goals.
  • Implement data governance practices - to uphold data quality standards throughout the organization. This includes defining data ownership, stewardship roles, and quality policies guiding data management practices.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree/Master in Information Technology.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Data Quality Management under Data Governance.
  • Involvement in System Development Life Cycle process.
  • Experience in IT Management and Data Management.
  • Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc.).
  • Familiarity with database and information system technologies.
  • Strong command of Bahasa Malaysia and English, both oral and written.
  • Overall data management knowledge.
  • Basic business acumen and industry knowledge.
  • Familiar with Business Data Flow and Data Structure.
  • Proficient in MS 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word, Power Apps, Power BI, etc.), SQL.
  • Added advantage with experience in Data Quality Tool (Trillium), Precisely & Qlik.
  • An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
