CLERK OF WORKS (ARCHITECTURE)

The Clerk of Works (Architecture) ensures that architectural works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role is vital for maintaining the integrity of construction work, ensuring that all aspects comply with design and regulatory requirements, and safeguarding time, cost, and safety constraints.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Compliance with Policies and Procedures:

Ensure full compliance with the organization's Quality Management System and all relevant policies, procedures, and instructions concerning architectural works.

  • Adherence to Architectural Drawings and Specifications:

Oversee the implementation of architectural works, ensuring strict adherence to approved architectural drawings, specifications, and building codes.

  • Time, Cost, and Quality Control:

Ensure all architectural works are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet high-quality standards, including finishing details like materials, texture, and color as per the design.

  • Inspection of Architectural Elements:

Conduct regular inspections of architectural components such as finishes, fixtures, fittings, cladding, and other design elements to ensure conformity to drawings and specifications.

  • Defects Reporting and Architectural Adjustments:

Identify and report defects related to architectural finishes, structure alignment, and aesthetics. Propose solutions or adjustments to maintain design integrity without compromising structural integrity.

  • Material Examination for Architectural Works:

Inspect architectural materials such as wood, glass, stone, and metalwork to ensure they meet specified quality standards, design intent, and aesthetic requirements.

  • Upholding Architectural Workmanship Standards:

Maintain high standards of workmanship in architectural trades (e.g., masonry, carpentry, plastering, painting) ensuring all finishes meet the design’s quality and aesthetic benchmarks.

  • Pre and Post-Work Inspections on Architectural Finishes:

Carry out comprehensive inspections before and after the execution of architectural finishes, ensuring the work aligns with architectural designs and specifications.

  • Record Keeping of Architectural Works:

Maintain meticulous records of architectural elements, including design variations, changes in materials, and any deviations from the approved drawings or specifications.

  • Architectural Rejection Records:

Keep detailed records of rejected architectural works or materials, including reasons for rejection and follow-up actions.

  • Test Witnessing for Architectural Materials:

Witness tests related to architectural materials (e.g., load-bearing capacity of cladding materials, fire resistance of certain finishes) to ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards.

  • Identification of Incompetent Architectural Work:

Identify and report substandard workmanship, defective architectural materials, or finishes that do not meet design and quality standards for immediate corrective action.

  • Measurement and Verification of Architectural Work Done:

Measure completed architectural works to ensure they match the design specifications and are accurately reported.

  • Quality Compliance for Architectural Works:

Notify superiors immediately if any architectural work deviates from the approved drawings or does not meet design standards, ensuring corrective actions are taken in a timely manner.

  • Fair and Rational Decision-Making for Architectural Elements:

Make balanced, design-sensitive decisions that support the smooth progress of the architectural works without compromising the aesthetics or functionality.

  • Reporting Architectural Issues:

Report any architectural design-related issues, such as inaccuracies, errors in design interpretation, or construction difficulties, to superiors for resolution.

  • Integration of Architectural and Structural Elements:

Work closely with structural teams to ensure that architectural elements are properly integrated with structural components, avoiding conflicts between design and structural integrity.

  • Sustainability and Environmental Considerations:

Ensure that the architectural works consider sustainability, including the use of eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient design features as per the project’s environmental goals.

  • Additional Architectural Duties:

Perform any additional duties or responsibilities related to architecture as directed by the Engineer or Project Manager, contributing to the overall success of the project.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Diploma in Civil /Building Engineering with 3-5 years working experience in the same field industry.
  • Well organized independent and committed.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Time, cost, quality and safety conscious.
  • Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: RM5,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month

  • HIGH RISE CONSTRUCTION: 5 years (Preferred)
