Pre-press Preparation:

  • Receive and review customer artwork files to ensure compatibility with printing processes.
  • Make necessary adjustments to the artwork for optimal printing quality, including file conversion, layout adjustments, and color correction.
  • Generate and prepare print plates, ensuring alignment and precision for the press.
  • Maintain close coordination with graphic designers, sales, and production teams to resolve any technical issues.

    Quality Control:

    • Perform pre-flight checks to ensure that all design elements meet quality standards and the requirements of the printing process.
    • Manage color profiling and ensure accurate color reproduction across different substrates and printing techniques (offset, digital, flexo, etc.).
    • Conduct proofing (digital and hardcopy) to ensure the product meets design specifications.

      Process Management:

      • Implement and monitor print workflows, ensuring smooth transitions from digital files to the physical printing process.
      • Collaborate with the production team to identify potential bottlenecks or quality concerns before full-scale production.
      • Suggest improvements in the pre-press workflow to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.

        Troubleshooting:

        • Analyze and resolve any pre-press or print-related issues that arise during the production process.
        • Recommend process improvements to avoid recurring problems in future print jobs.

          Technical Support:

          • Maintain and calibrate pre-press equipment such as proofers, RIP systems, and CTP (Computer-to-Plate) machines.
          • Train junior staff members in pre-press procedures and quality standards, if necessary.
          • Stay up-to-date with new printing technologies, materials, and techniques to ensure the company’s production standards are competitive.

            Documentation and Compliance:

            • Maintain accurate records of pre-press processes and activities.
            • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards in handling printing materials and chemicals.

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Print Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in a pre-press role, preferably in packaging or printing manufacturing.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), PDF workflows, RIP software, and colour management systems.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of print production processes, including offset, digital, and flexographic printing.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, particularly in quality control and colour management.
  • Problem-solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills to quickly resolve pre-press and production issues.
  • Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with team members, clients, and vendors.
  • Teamwork: Able to collaborate in a dynamic production environment with design, production, and sales teams.
