Positions Available:

  • Commis Chef – Pastry
  • Commis Chef – Sushi Bar

Key Responsibilities (General):

  • Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of high-quality ingredients and dishes, ensuring consistency and attention to detail in every aspect.
  • Support Senior Chefs: Work under the direction of senior chefs, efficiently carrying out tasks in line with Nobu’s standards of excellence.
  • Mise en Place: Ensure all workstations are prepped, organized, and ready for service, maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen.
  • Health and Safety: Follow all hygiene and food safety regulations, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation across all areas of work.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with fellow chefs and kitchen staff to ensure a seamless operation during service.

Commis Chef – Pastry:

  • Assist in the preparation of a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods, adhering to Nobu’s high standards of quality.
  • Ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients used in all pastry items.
  • Learn and perfect dessert presentation techniques, ensuring each plate is a visual and culinary delight.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pastry section, including proper storage of ingredients.

Commis Chef – Sushi Bar:

  • Assist with the preparation of sushi and sashimi, ensuring the use of fresh, high-quality seafood and ingredients.
  • Support senior chefs in handling the delicate art of sushi rolling, cutting, and presentation.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and precision at the sushi station, ensuring that all tools and workspaces are in top condition.
  • Assist in preparing rice, and maintaining consistency in sushi dishes.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Passion for the culinary arts and enthusiasm for learning specialized techniques in either pastry or sushi preparation.
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation, hygiene, and safety practices.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment, handling multiple tasks with precision.
  • Prior experience in either pastry or sushi preparation is an advantage, but we welcome enthusiastic beginners who are eager to learn.
  • Team player with good communication skills and a positive attitude towards collaboration.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
