Job Title: CTP (Computer to Plate) Operator

Department: Prepress
Reports To: Prepress Supervisor / Manager

Job Overview:
The CTP Operator is responsible for preparing digital files for printing by converting them into high-quality printing plates using Computer to Plate (CTP) technology. This role requires a strong understanding of prepress procedures, quality control, and various printing processes, ensuring that plates meet the required production standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plate Production & Setup:
• Operate CTP equipment to produce printing plates based on digital files provided by the prepress or design team.
• Ensure proper alignment, exposure, and processing of plates for high-quality output.
• Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of CTP machines to ensure optimal functionality.
• Output and transfer plates to presses daily, following the printing schedule.
• Quality Control:
• Inspect plates after production for any defects or inconsistencies, making necessary adjustments as needed.
• Collaborate with the pressroom to ensure plates meet the required quality standards for each print job.
• Troubleshoot issues related to plate production, such as image clarity, resolution, or alignment problems.
• Inventory & Documentation:
• Monitor plate inventory and record data related to daily plate output.
• Maintain accurate records of plate production, including file names, job numbers, and printing specifications.
• Ensure proper filing and archiving of required documentation for future reference.
• Maintenance & Compliance:
• Conduct routine maintenance on CTP imaging devices, including laser cleaning and troubleshooting.
• Perform regular maintenance for processors and handle chemical changes as needed.
• Keep the work area organized and clean, including removing trash regularly.
• Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and environmental regulations during the plate-making process.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
• Previous experience as a CTP Operator or in a prepress/plate-making environment.
• Familiarity with CTP systems (e.g., Heidelberg, Kodak, Agfa) and RIP software.
• Technical Skills:
• Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) and prepress workflow software.
• Understanding of color management, trapping, imposition, and printing processes (offset, flexo, digital).
• Attention to Detail:
• High level of precision in handling files, preparing plates, and ensuring that quality standards are met.
• Problem-Solving:
• Ability to troubleshoot issues related to digital files, plate production, or equipment operation.
• Teamwork:
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in computer skills and the ability to work on shifts.
• Knowledge of color standards, such as FOGRA or G7.
• Understanding of color theory and experience in managing different types of printing presses.
• Experience with color management tools, such as Oris Color Tuner or Press Matcher.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM1,600.00 - RM2,500.00 per month
