Operational

1. To perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely manner according to the policies and procedures of the Company.

2. To ensure good hygiene practice during the course of maintenance.

3. To ensure keen and good observation on the general well-being and health of the live exhibits so that instant action can be taken against any undesirable consequences.

4. To supervise in the maintenance of live support systems.

5. To assist in the developing and upgrading of husbandry programs.

6. To ensure the correct preparation, amount, good quality of food, proper diet and nutrition is being accorded to the livestock.

7. To ensure the correct supplement or medicine given to the animals as prescribed by Veterinarian.

8. To clean the tanks and ensure the hygiene and cleanliness of the animal enclosure within the strictest, standard and recommended procedures at all time.

9. To keep proper daily monitoring and recording of the environment parameters (air temperature, humidity, water temperature, lighting where applicable.) in the logbook and database system (which applicable).

10. To ensure good monitoring on the general well being and health of the live exhibits so that immediate action can be taken against any undesirable consequences.

11. To assist the Veterinarian on livestock treatment for illness and any injuries.

12. To assist in relocating livestock as instructed by Veterinarian or Curator.

13. To update the penguin/ seal databases with the latest data on the penguins and fur seal.

14. To prepare chemical and feeds inventory monthly report.

15. To perform work tasks related to animals management, other than specified above, as perceived from time to time.

16. To ensure that biotic and antibiotic factors of the enclosure specifically are aligned to the optimum life support system and environment for the exhibits.

17. To ensure exhibits are displayed at a reasonable standard as compared to other established aquaria.

18. To develop animal training program for show performance and improve enrichment program for the animals.

19. To establish networking with other aquaria or zoos and universities for promoting joint research in exhibitions, conservation and educational aspects.

20. To assist in developing UWL to become the center of research, conservation and marine science.

21. To have a complete understanding of and adhere to the department’s policies relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.

Qualifications:

Education: A diploma or certificate in zoology, animal science, biology, or a related field is preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in animal care (e.g., zoos, wildlife sanctuaries, veterinary clinics) is an asset but not always required.

Skills:

  • Ability to follow instructions and work within safety protocols.
  • Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with both team members and the public.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and stand or walk for extended periods.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM1,500.00 - RM1,800.00 per month
