Job Purpose

This is a visible, strategic role tasked with building and maintaining a best-in-class Technology Infrastructure function that operates with a cloud-first and DevOps mindset.

You will be required to lead, manage and promote all aspects of the Technology Infrastructure function, ensuring the smooth and effective delivery of infrastructure service. You will also be required develop the technical roadmap for infrastructure, deliver infrastructure improvements and lead the migration to any cloud environment.

Key Accountabilities

Cloud Management

  • Assess the IT infrastructure and operations organisation (people, process, and technology) to determine best course of journey towards Cloud, specifically, Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Develop the Infrastructure roadmap and contribute to the wider Technology strategy and architectural plans.
  • Lead the Technology Infrastructure team towards a primarily Cloud/AWS based operations.
  • Assess the current deployment process to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions towards a continuous deployment and continuous integration (CI/CD). Evangelise, implement, and manage a robust DevOps function.
  • Setup and run a site reliability function.
  • Implement and manage processes and controls that assure maximum uptime and quick service to the user community for both on-prem and Cloud workloads.
  • Management and continual improvement of Cloud Operations, DevOps, and On-prem IT infrastructure/operations.
  • Partner with InfoSec and Security team to deliver on key information security and IT risk related initiatives. Furthermore, ensure compliance to patching and vulnerability policies established within the organisation.
  • Manage third party vendor relationships and hold them accountable for delivery of any hosted or outsourced functions.
  • Develop and implement a robust Disaster Recovery strategy for critical systems and infrastructure.

Team Management

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of cloud professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations to ensure optimal performance and professional growth.

Vendor Management

  • Oversee relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring adherence to service level agreements, contract negotiations, and effective collaboration to meet business needs.

Resource Allocation

  • Allocate resources effectively to prioritize and balance project deliverables, operational support, and system enhancements, considering business requirements and available resources.

Quality Assurance

  • Implement and enforce quality assurance processes to ensure the integrity, reliability, and security of enterprise applications, working closely with internal stakeholders and compliance teams.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance and impact of the infrastructure projects and operations, and provide regular reports and feedback to the line manager and other stakeholders.

Incident and Problem Management

  • Review and maintain incident and problem management processes, ensuring timely resolution of application issues, effective root cause analysis, and proactive prevention of recurring problems.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, including department heads, to understand their application needs, provide consultation on technology solutions, and manage expectations regarding delivery timelines and support services.

Budgeting and Financial Management

  • Demonstrate financial acumen by developing and managing the department's budget to ensure cost-effective service delivery.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends and consistently drive initiatives to enhance cloud operational efficiency and elevate customer satisfaction
  • Identify and mitigate the risks and challenges related to infrastructure management in the region, and escalate issues as needed.

Ad-hoc

  • And any other duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values/Objectives

Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT/Computer Science or related field.
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience in infrastructure management, with at least 5 years in a senior or regional role.
  • Experience working within an architecture domain (enterprise, solutions, applications, big data and/or cloud)
  • Demonstrated experience transforming IT infrastructure and moving an organisation toward a mature cloud-based (Azure/AWS) service delivery model.
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure management in a complex environment with significant reliability and uptime requirements.
  • Experience with managing on-prem workloads as well as migrating workloads to Cloud, specifically AWS while optimizing the cost of Cloud based workloads.
  • Ability to continue to optimise the cost of Cloud based workloads once they are moved to Azure or AWS as part of overall infrastructure cost optimisation.
  • Possess a deep experience in DevOps with proven results enabling continuous deployment and continuous integration (CI/CD).
  • Possess some experience and background in infrastructure architecture, systems administration, network administration and storage administration.
  • Extensive experience with instrumentation, enterprise monitoring and reporting tools (FinOps, Security, Recovery, Automation, CI-CD and etc).
  • Demonstrates the business and financial acumen necessary to develop and present data-based ideas and solutions in a clear, concise, organised manner.
  • Experience managing IP based networks, WAN technologies, virtual server technologies, cloud, DHCP/DNS, MS Office 365, SAN/NAS storage.
  • Experience leading, directing, and mentoring IT professionals.
  • Solid leadership skills in leading an IT infrastructure function towards Cloud-first operations and DevOps mindset.
  • Good organisations change management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.
  • Strong analytical capability and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on driving innovative solutions and process improvements.
  • Experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and managing service level agreements.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to enterprise applications (e.g., data privacy, security standards) is desirable.
