Cross-Section Analysis for Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct detailed cross-section analyses of wire harness assemblies to verify crimp quality, ensuring compliance with robust industry standards and maintaining consistent product quality.

Mastering Crimping Techniques:

  • Master and apply precise crimping techniques to guarantee reliable electrical connectivity and mechanical stability of wire harnesses, meeting critical performance specifications.

Testing and Verification with Cirris Equipment:

  • Proficiently utilize Cirris testing equipment to perform comprehensive testing of wire harnesses, ensuring that all products meet stringent performance and quality criteria.

Process Optimization for New Product Introduction (NPI):

  • Implement efficient methods for accurate component integration during the NPI phase, enhancing productivity, reducing assembly time, and ensuring a smooth transition to full-scale production.

Harness Layout Optimization:

  • Optimize harness layouts for efficient routing and assembly, improving overall system functionality and reducing installation time.

Prototype Assembly and Process Improvement:

  • Lead the assembly of initial prototypes, ensuring design specifications are met and identifying areas for process improvement.

On-site Rework and Issue Resolution:

  • Manage on-site rework activities to promptly address production issues, maintaining quality standards and project timelines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with automotive quality standards such as ISO/TS 16949 or IATF 16949.
  • Experience in supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic production environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.

As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for optimizing and improving manufacturing processes to ensure the efficient production of high-quality automotive wire harnesses. You will play a key role in process development, troubleshooting, and implementing continuous improvement strategies that align with lean manufacturing principles. The goal is to ensure the production process is streamlined, cost-effective, and adheres to strict quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Development and Optimization:
    • Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for wire harness production, focusing on efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve production methods, increase throughput, and reduce cycle time.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI):
    • Lead process design and development for the introduction of new products, ensuring the seamless integration of new wire harness designs into existing production systems.
    • Create process flows, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions for new products.
  • Manufacturing Support and Troubleshooting:
    • Provide day-to-day support to the production team to resolve any process-related issues or equipment malfunctions that may impact production efficiency.
    • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to address process failures or deviations.
  • Process Control and Continuous Improvement:
    • Develop and implement process control plans, ensuring critical parameters are monitored and maintained within specified limits.
    • Apply lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies to drive continuous improvement efforts aimed at reducing waste, enhancing quality, and increasing efficiency.
  • Tooling and Equipment Validation:
    • Oversee the design, selection, and validation of production tooling and equipment, ensuring they meet process requirements and quality standards.
    • Collaborate with the maintenance and engineering teams to ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed and equipment downtime is minimized.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    • Ensure that production processes meet automotive quality standards such as ISO/TS 16949 or IATF 16949, and that all products conform to customer specifications.
    • Conduct process audits and implement corrective actions based on audit findings.
  • Data Collection and Analysis:
    • Use data collection and analysis tools to monitor process performance, identify trends, and implement process improvements based on statistical analysis.
    • Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, throughput, and downtime to inform management decisions.
  • Cost Reduction Initiatives:
    • Identify areas for cost reduction by improving process efficiency, reducing material waste, and optimizing labor utilization without compromising quality or safety.
    • Implement strategies to reduce scrap and rework rates.
  • Training and Development:
    • Provide training and support to operators and technicians on new processes, equipment, and best practices to ensure smooth production operations.
    • Develop training programs and materials to ensure adherence to standardized processes.
  • Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in wire harness manufacturing, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring techniques, and automotive electrical components.
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with wire harness assembly tools and equipment, including crimping tools, wire cutters, soldering irons, and heat guns.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to perform intricate assembly tasks with precision.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaborate effectively within a team environment.
