Sabah Ports is seeking a versatile and motivated Hydrographic Surveyor to join our team. The full-time / year-round position will involve hydrographic surveys throughout Sabah and is based out of our Headquarters at Kota Kinabalu. Our hydrographic surveyors perform a range of tasks in both field and office.

Requirements:

  • Malaysian Citizen;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hydrography, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or a related field;
  • 3 years’ experience in hydrographic surveying;
  • Certified International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) / International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) Category;
  • Proficient in hydrographic survey equipment such as multibeam and single beam echo sounders and GPS systems;
  • Familiar with data processing software and Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
  • Ability to perform detailed analysis and interpretation of survey data;
  • Strong understanding of hydrographic surveying principles and techniques, oceanographic and geodetic principles;
  • Knowledge in maritime regulations and standards;
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and physical environments;
  • Has the capability to perform fieldwork which may include lifting equipment and working on boat;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Attentive to details and accuracy;
  • Ability to work independently and work as a team;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks;
  • Good leadership skills;
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
  • Good health condition;
  • Driving License (CDL) class D.

Responsibilities:

  • Survey project schedules and forecasts;
  • Planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the technical and management aspects of projects;
  • Direct and perform single-beam surveys and update sounding reports;
  • On-site safety, directing, and documenting safety meetings;
  • Adhere to quality assurance procedures;
  • Knowledge of surveying equipment and software;
  • Complete project administrative tasks, forms, etc;
  • Ensure survey equipment is in good working condition and properly report any deficiencies;
  • Operate survey vessels and associated support equipment;
  • Assist with development of survey procedures;
  • Assist with preparation of project scopes and estimates;
  • Plan and execute project quality control and assurance procedures;
  • Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) Topographic Surveys;
  • Plan and supervise dredging and reclamation works;
  • Multibeam and Single beam data Processing;
  • Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) Static Control Network Processing and Adjustment;
  • AutoCAD Civil including 3D;
  • Bathymetric data collection and tabulation for project planning and development.
