Chargeman is responsible to inspect and maintains electrical systems which include inspecting, repairing, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations, handle for the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner.

Job Responsibilities & Duties:

• Act as a competent person to lead the work, conduct, or control of any work or operator of electrical installations.
• Carry out repair, maintenance, troubleshoot, and housekeeping works to the “gears”, circuit breakers, splitters, system inclusive of other power tools.
• Carry out switching work and commencing work and Switch ON and Switch OFF the electrical equipment, system, and machinery as required to be carried out by competent persons as per described in the Electricity Supply Act 1990 and the Electricity Regulations 1994.
• Carry out visits and perform daily checks of the switchboards, switching tools, generator sets, feeder pillars, circuit breakers, and other power tools under the custody and record the status of the equipment in the Chargeman daily log book.
• Record the reports and status in the checklist report of the switchboards, variable tools, generator sets, circuit breakers, and other power tools under custody and submit on a weekly basis.
• Take the duties of Technician during their absence to supervise repairs and maintenance work of the Installation or by the instructions of the Engineer.
• Oversee the repair works, maintenance works, and infrastructure development works including installation and facilities performed by the appointed contractors/companies as directed by the Engineer.
• Assist Engineer to investigate, assess & verify damage and provide breakdown reports on electrical equipment, cables, other power tools and report accordingly to immediate superior.
• Provide the schedule of preventive maintenance program work on power tools, gears, and circuit breakers.
• Record and submit the monthly electricity meter reading to Planner on the appointed date.
• To support and assist other legal authority matters (BOMBA, MPKJ, DOSH & etc).
• To assist on Facilities Management diagnosis based on GHQ & RHQ requirement.
• To carry yearly renewal of Chargeman and DNMY Electrical License according to Energy Commission requirement.

Academic Qualification and Skills Required:

• Certificate of the competency for High Voltage Restriction (B0-33KV) issued by the Energy Commission.
• Minimum ten (10) years working experience as Chargeman in Manufacturing or Construction industry.
• Competence in Electricity Supply Act 1990 and Electricity Regulations 1994.
• Knowledgeable in general electrical / Mechanical engineering works.
• Communication and negotiation across all level of people and organization.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Outlook and other applications)
• Excellent problem solving and logical thinking skills.
