Job Summary:
The Instrument Technician is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the optimal functioning of production machinery and automation systems through scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work. This role involves inspecting, testing, and calibrating instrumental equipment, as well as supporting the installation and modification of machinery as required. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of control systems and be proficient in maintaining and troubleshooting PLC, DCS, and other instrumental devices to minimize downtime and support efficient production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance of production machinery and ancillary systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Perform unplanned repair and maintenance of automation systems, including PLC, DCS, VSD, and related equipment.
  • Inspect and check all assigned machinery daily to identify and address any issues.
  • Install, dismantle, and modify parts, equipment, and machinery as instructed by engineers.
  • Test, inspect, and calibrate instrumental equipment to ensure accurate and reliable operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control system I/O wiring, hardware, and software.
  • Participate in Monthly and Annual Shutdown activities and assist in maintenance planning.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring availability and proper documentation.
  • Adhere to safety standards and contribute to a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Implement and maintain 5S practices to ensure a clean and efficient workspace.
  • Uphold compliance with corporate and regulatory controls, policies, and safety regulations.
  • Record completed tasks and prepared reports for maintenance activities as required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machinery efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineers to recommend necessary replacements and rectifications.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Engineer or management.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or certification in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC, DCS, VSD, and related automation systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions effectively.
  • Knowledge of 5S, safety standards, and best practices.
  • Willingness to work on rotating shifts and during planned shutdowns.
