Account Executive (Senior/Junior) - Hybrid Working Arrangement

Job Summary: The Account Executive will be responsible for handling the full set of accounts, including financial statements, general ledger, and account reconciliations. This role requires strong knowledge of both International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), ensuring all financial processes comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, manage complex accounting tasks, and assist in financial consolidation activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Full Set of Accounts Management:

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure all transactions are properly recorded, classified, and summarized according to the standard accounting practices.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end account closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.

Financial Consolidation:

• Perform consolidation of financial statements across subsidiaries or business units.
• Prepare intercompany reconciliations and adjustments, ensuring compliance with both local and international standards.

Compliance with Accounting Standards:

• Ensure all financial reporting complies with the relevant International Accounting Standards (IFRS) and Malaysian Accounting Standards (MFRS).
• Keep up to date with any changes in financial regulations and ensure that the company’s accounting policies reflect these changes.

Taxation and Regulatory Reporting:

• Prepare and file all relevant tax returns in compliance with Malaysian tax laws, including SST, corporate tax, and withholding tax.
• Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports for government agencies and statutory bodies.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth audit and compliance processes.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial goals.
• Monitor the actual performance against the budget and provide variance analysis.

Account Reconciliation:

• Perform regular reconciliation of bank accounts, receivables, and payables to ensure accuracy and completeness of records.
• Ensure prompt resolution of any discrepancies identified in reconciliations.

Independent Working & Reporting:

• Work independently with minimal supervision to manage all accounting operations.
• Provide timely financial reports and analysis to management for decision-making.
• Take ownership of accounting issues and ensure they are resolved promptly.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and MFRS.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in handling full set of accounts and financial consolidation.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., XERO, Autocount, SQL, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
• High attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with various stakeholders.
• Experience working in a professional services firm is highly preferred.

Additional Skills:

• Experience working in a multinational or multi-subsidiary environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with Malaysian taxation laws and requirements.
• Ability to provide insights and recommendations based on financial data.
