We are actively seeking for talented R&D Engineers in automated optical inspection (AOI) whom will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and evaluating AOI machines. They integrate machine vision hardware, conduct sample evaluations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand customer needs. Additionally, they prepare documentation, assist with reports, and liaise closely with customers throughout the project lifecycle to ensure successful implementation of AOI solutions.

A. We are looking for a talented individual(s) to

  • Responsible for testing, troubleshooting and evaluation of automated optical inspection (AOI) machine.
  • Integrate and configure machine vision related hardware such as lighting, controller, camera, lenses and optics.
  • Perform sample evaluation to study machine vision/integration feasibility.
  • Design requirements include establishing optical designs, lighting designs, generating system layouts, sequence of operations and reviewing cycle time for vision inspection.
  • Work with engineering team and sales as well as customers to thoroughly understand customer needs and specifications.
  • Follow up with customers’ product criteria specification to ensure that they are synchronized among project team accurately and effectively.
  • Develop Application-specific solutions and suggest system enhancements or changes to meet customer’s requirement.
  • Responsible for buyoff process; prepare Buyoff Verification Report to ensure for project sign off.
  • Generate quality detectability and GR&R report.
  • Drive improvement actions to resolve issues if related to vision system.

B. Education and Experience Required

  • Required at least bachelor’s degree/Postgraduate in Computer Science, Engineering (Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical or Mechatronics), Information Technology or equivalent.
  • Preferably 2-3 years of working experience in a related field.

D. Knowledge

  • Knowledge of optics and/or lighting for machine vision applications.
  • Knowledge of basic machine vision techniques and applications.
  • Understands system architecture, can read electrical schematics, has automated motion systems aptitude and has logical thinking with experience in troubleshooting techniques.
  • Knowledge in C++ or C# programming, machine vision/image processing/motion control is an added advantage.

E. Ability

  • Able to think from a customer’s perspective.
  • Able to build and maintain a good relationship with customers by requesting feedback, showing appreciation and responding to customers’ queries promptly.
  • Able to maintain a positive attitude when dealing with customers’ complaints, frustration and negative feedback.
  • Able to balance customer requirements and company’s policy.
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Able to travel to the outstation or oversea.

F. Skills

  • Technical skills – able to use computer and standard office application (e.g. Microsoft Office); have good technological base for effectively understanding of the specification involved in vision inspection machine.
  • Oral skills – able to effectively communicate technical specifications to customers.
  • Written communication skills – able to write a clear and detailed technical report for customers as required.
  • Social skills – able to interact with customers and team members effectively in understanding what to say and what not to say.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills – able to evaluate the issues of the machine and come up with a plan to resolve it; able to demonstrate good failure analysis.
  • Leadership skills – provide guidance and advice for junior field application engineers.
