Job Summary

This role reports to Head of Concessions and is responsible to grow sustainable concessions revenue through:

  • Develop dynamic merchandise segment through sourcing and deliver ultimate merchandising set up to boost customer engagement, increase concession spending, and enhance the overall cinema experience for moviegoers.
  • Strategically curate, package, identify & promote captivating merchandise to boost attendance and drive additional sales.
  • Devise strategic collaboration programs with corporate partners to target their customer base through enticing merchandise promotions.

Job Responsibilities

To source merchandise and formulate promotions and programmes to achieve sustainable growth in concessions revenue and this requires the implementation of the following strategies and practices:

  • Customer-Centric Approach: Embrace a customer-centric mindset by gaining a deep understanding of your target audience's needs and preferences. Regularly conduct customer surveys and solicit feedback to identify areas for improvement.
  • Diligently identify, source, and select merchandise that aligns with the company’s brand and meets customer preferences.
  • "Go-To-Market" (GTM): Coordinate relevant departments and support teams to execute initiatives from the concession marketing calendar. Be actively involved in overall marketing discussions through the GTM process.
  • Consistently monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock, avoiding both overstocking and stockouts.
  • Establish and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms to secure the best deals and highest quality products.
  • Accurately analyze sales data to forecast future trends, making informed decisions to optimize merchandise planning.
  • Develop and implement effective pricing strategies to maximize profitability while maintaining competitive positioning.
  • Create and sustain an appealing and effective visual presentation of products to enhance the customer shopping experience.
  • Continuously stay updated on market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to inform and refine merchandising strategies.
  • Lead and mentor a team of buyers, planners, and other merchandise staff, ensuring alignment with and commitment to company goals.
  • Rigorously manage the merchandise budget, ensuring expenditures remain within approved limits and investments yield the desired return on investment.
  • Continuously evaluate the performance of merchandise strategies, making necessary adjustments to achieve sales targets and improve customer satisfaction
  • Adaptability: Remain agile and responsive to shifting customer preferences and market dynamics. Adjust merchandise strategies as necessary to remain relevant and appealing.

Job Requirements

  • A Diploma / Degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject area
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in merchandising / retail management industry
  • A Diploma / Degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject area
  • Strong consumer merchandise sourcing background.
  • Recognized local and international organization.
  • Experienced in merchandising, directly managed product launching and logistics.
  • Strong in retailing & Customer centric business mindset
  • Sound financial acumen
  • Good communication and presentation skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia
