About you: You are a dynamic, skilled, high performing, Senior Mobile App Engineer. You have a passion for technology and a keen sense of pride in the work you do. You coach the team to use modern techniques, patterns and practices to build accessible, scalable and evolvable software that is robust.

You demonstrate the ability to co-ordinate and plan engineering sprint/release activities, prioritising according to risk and changes in the delivery schedule. You work closely with your peers to ensure cross-team and cross-division activities are performed cohesively and efficiently, delivering the desired results for the business. You are constantly seeking to improve both your own skills and the skills of others and enjoy working in a fast paced dynamic company.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Design and develop software solutions to meet agreed acceptance criteria using a range of languages and technologies.

Ensure engineering standards are established, known and followed within agile team

  • Actively participate in requirements analysis: highlight omissions and gaps; pro-actively contribute to discussions; and understand the scope, risk and complexity of changes by challenging and providing feedback to the stories and acceptance criteria
  • Analyse, identify and fix of root cause of defects, using debugging techniques and tools
  • Identify, compartmentalise and execute refactoring where commercially/technically necessary, with a focus on maintainability
  • Implementation and/or management of CI Pipelines, build tooling, and environments and management/execution of Production releases
  • Management of/contribution towards effective source control, ensuring isolation and ability to manage multiple branches
  • Own, manage and be accountable for specific projects and deliverables, managing risks and dependencies with autonomy
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance and direction to other members of the engineering team
  • Champion a quality focussed approach including good planning; branch strategy; promoting/participating in early discovery of defects; code reviews; unit testing and collaboration with the QA engineers
  • Ensure value is achieved through engineering by understanding customer requirements, identifying dependencies and risks, and clearly communicating and escalating where appropriate

As a well-rounded Senior Mobile App Engineer, your Skills and Experiences likely include:

  • Writes clear and self-documenting code.

Good understanding of technical and commercial drivers when making decisions on refactoring.

  • Stay up to date with the latest technology.

Aware of trending design patterns in the technologies they work in, able to select the best design pattern for the job in hand and articulate to others why this has been chosen.

  • Confident in ability to Design, write and unit-test new code using most of the following languages: JavaScript, jQuery, Typescript, CSS 3, HTML 5, React, React-Native, Redux, Java (Android), Kotlin, Objective-C, Swift.
  • Good understanding of using Git based version control systems to manage feature development and bug fixing
  • Connecting mobile apps to IoT devices using BLE or Bluetooth for device communication
  • An understanding of Azure DevOps and Azure Pipelines for Continuous Integration & Deployment or other DevOps tooling.
  • Good understanding of working with IoT devices using BLE or equivalent technologies
