General purpose
Serve as liaison for the Career Services, providing career counselling and outreach to students, alumni and faculty. Providing information and/or direction to students about career, educational and professional pathways available related to students’ field of studies. Responsible in maintaining liaisons with industries and corporates, managing and monitoring students’ industrial training placement along the course of study and job placement upon graduation.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide career development and job search counselling, to develop a general knowledge and understanding of the related professions and maintain familiarity with the education, training and career opportunities and expectations of the industries.
- To plan and execute students’ career development (career counselling, pre-internship/employment workshops/talks, internship/employment briefing, careers fairs, preparation courses of professional bodies, job searching, etc.) from day 1 in university until their graduation.
- To set up a career information centre, to prepare a wide variety of manual and electronic reports and materials for the purpose of communicating with students, community, corporate and complying with internship / job placement requirement.
- Coordinates and organizing a variety of events and programs (e.g. student assessment, classroom presentations, career fairs, field trips, internship placement, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the smooth transition from undergraduate studies to industrial training and employment.
- Maintain as liaison with employers, professional bodies, community leaders and organizations for the purpose of building resources and expanding internship and job placement opportunities for eligible students.
- Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, and conference committees for the purpose of conveying and / or gathering information required to perform functions and remaining knowledgeable of career counselling related matters.
- Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- To develop job skills such as interviewing, resume writing and networking among the students prior to their internship/ job placement and also alumni related affairs.
- Responsible as a course administrator in Moodle (online e-learning platform) to ensure the comprehensiveness of the course contents.
- Support other departments in various tasks to ensure the smoothness of the entire operation of the university and organization.
- Work closely and assist Senior Executive and Manager of Career Services in execution of the department related tasks.
- Ensure the company lists are updated and accurate.
- Coordinating closely with other departments on MoU collaboration with company and/or organization to enhance the level of collaboration between university and company/organization.
- Leading a group of student ambassadors, in terms of leadership, training, execution and motivation to ensure the smoothness of operation of the career services department.
- Any other tasks assigned by management.
Education and Experience
- Minimum with a Bachelor Degree.
- Preferably minimum 2 years of working experience in career planning, training and services but is not a must.
- Experience in customer service practices will be an advantage.
- Bilingual (English and Mandarin) abilities preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM2,700.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
