The Role: This role will oversee site activities in Penang, Malaysia. which covers the team designs, manufactures, and delivers scientific instrumentation products for industrial and academic customers worldwide.
Key responsibilities include managing Penang operations, encompassing manufacturing, product testing, regional supply chain management, and ensuring compliance with import/export regulations. The role also involves supportive oversight of engineering, HR, finance, IT, and order administration personnel.
Collaboration with business, engineering, and manufacturing leadership is essential, particularly with teams transitioning products from facilities in Overseas, This role will work with the Penang team and leaders from partner divisions to establish medium term strategic objectives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, reducing costs, and improving gross margins while meeting quality, delivery, and new product timelines. This will involve implementing best practices such as lean manufacturing, factory consolidations, and strategic sourcing.

**Requirements & Experience**
A Bachelor's degree is required, with a post-graduate degree (MSc or PhD) preferred in Engineering or Business Administration. Candidates should have at least 15 years of progressively responsible experience managing multiple manufacturing operations and leading multidisciplinary teams. Experience in high-tech manufacturing of complex electronic and mechanical assemblies, along with expertise in capital equipment production, is essential.
Candidates must be knowledgeable in World Class Manufacturing systems, including lean manufacturing and global ERP systems. Strong communication skills are necessary for collaborating across divisions in a multinational corporation, addressing quality issues, and managing the global supply chain.
An understanding of manufacturing engineering, regulatory, and quality issues for worldwide distribution is vital. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to set SMART operational objectives. Fluency in English and Malay is required, along with proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel. Experience with Malaysian manufacturing operations and scientific instrumentation is highly desirable. Travel (4-8 times/year) may be required.
