Manager, Legal Counsel & DPO

Job Purpose

You will protect the interest and reputation of the Company by ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. You will partner with the business, understand the issues and advise Management on viable and tangible solutions.

Key Accountabilities

• Ensure compliance with relevant rules, regulations, policies and procedures, including those relating to PDPA.
• Liaise with various regulatory authorities (including PDPC), external counsels and shareholders.
• Draft minutes of meetings and resolutions.
• Review, draft, provide advice on and negotiate different types of contracts, including tender documents, to ensure compliance with the company’s directives and policies.
• Provide general legal advice based on the needs of the Company.
• Provide advice and guidance on data protection issues and best practices to Management and staff, and liaise with external parties such as vendors, partners, and regulators on data protection matters.
• Handle data protection queries and complaints from customers, employees, and regulators, and ensure timely and appropriate resolution.
• Monitor and report on data protection performance and compliance, and identify areas for improvement.
• Alerting Management to any risks that might arise with regard to personal data.
• Keep abreast of the latest developments and trends in laws, including those relating to data protection, and advise Management on the implications and impact of any changes.

Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge

• Degree in law from a recognized university.
• Minimum 7-10 years of relevant working experience.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Good inter-personal skills.
• Able to work with all levels of management and a team player.
• Able to work in fast paced environment.
• Proven experience with legal technology.
