The role of the Contracts and Commercial Assistant Manager (M&E) is pivotal in overseeing the contractual and commercial aspects of the Mechanical & Electrical system related works of a project. The candidate should possess extensive expertise in contract management, project cost control, risk assessment, and dispute resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-contract stage:
- Preparation of tenders including calling for quotations, cost estimates & etc.
- Assist C&C Manager in preparation for cost plan.
- Compilation of tender documentation/award and calling for tenders.
- Establish supply chain and vendors for sub-trade and sub-labour procurement.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions across all stages of the project.
- Manage contractual risks by identifying issues early and implementing corrective actions.
- Manage and administer variations, claims, and extensions of time (EOT).
- Assist to prepare contract close-out documentation and ensure proper handover.
- Develop strategies to optimize cash flow and project profitability.
- Evaluate and control project costs to avoid overruns.
- Manage procurement and subcontracts to ensure compliance with budget and timelines.
- Manage commercial risks and opportunities, including value engineering.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure smooth project execution.
- Assist and coordinate with the legal and finance teams to address contractual and payment issues.
- Assist and support the Manager/Senior Manager with commercial insights to meet delivery targets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of M&E or MEP systems and construction processes.
- Expertise in contract negotiation, administration, and claims management.
- Proficient in cost management tools and software (e.g., SAP Ariba, Autodesk, Excel).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial and contract management, focusing on M&E or MEP projects.
