About the Role
A strong individual contributor to manage the Shariah, Legal and Secretarial functions in the Company.Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Manage the Legal Function
- Manage the legal function and provide legal services to the various business units. This includes: advice on statutory matters; advice on product related matters; non-product matters (operations and governance); and complaint handling.
- Manage litigation cases, including demand or claim made by/against the company.
- Review all contracts/agreements where the Company is a party or a beneficiary to ensure the terms and conditions are fair and to the best interest of the Company.
- Conduct and inculcate legal awareness to the business units in the Company.
2. Manage the Shariah Secretariat Function
- Manage one of Shariah functions required by policy document on Shariah Governance, namely Shariah Secretariat, which covers the following areas: oversight on Shariah secretariat for Shariah Committee, including Shariah Committee meetings (end to end), Shariah Committee succession and development plans.
3. Manage the Corporate Governance and Regulatory Affairs Function
- Manage the Board secretarial function in the company, which includes: oversight for overall corporate governance matters, and oversight on company secretarial function, a function outsourced to an affiliate company to ensure the SLAs are met.
- Assist line to manage in regulatory affairs matter, such communication or submission with various stakeholders including regulators and industry association.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Law. Qualification in Shariah is an added advantage.
- 5-8 years PQE (Post Qualified Experience) in Legal, Shariah Governance, and/or Secretariat is an added advantage .
- Exposure or experience in Islamic Finance, Takaful, Shariah and Corporate Governance .
- Proficient command of spoken and written English.
- Detail-oriented, high sense of responsibility and motivated.
