Job Summary

MYSTEP PROGRAM

MYSTEP program was introduced by Malaysian Government to offer short term employment opportunity to unemployed Malaysian undergraduates. By joining this program, you will be exposed to experiential learning to equip yourself with the right skills and knowledge for your transition into the working world.

MYSTEP Trainee under the Group Private Equity and Strategic Investment (GPESI) will work closely with the investment team to conduct market research, analyse financial data, and assist with due diligence on potential investments. This role will provide valuable end-to-end exposure to the private equity industry and offer opportunities to develop skills in financial modelling and investment analysis.

Job holder will also be required to support other team members on work related to GPESI’s business development and strategic partnerships/alliances.

Job Description

Financial

• Assist on identifying potential investments and conduct research on market trends, pricing and competition;
• Assist to prepare due diligence report on potential investment opportunities;
• Assist with financial modelling and analysis of potential investments;
• Support the investment team in portfolio management activities, including monitoring portfolio performance and preparing performance reports.
  
  

Customer

• Provide support in building relationship with industry, trade and professional organizations to enhance visibility of the Bank and its portfolio companies in the market place;
• Assist with monitoring performance of the investee companies on a regular basis, collaborate with management on a 100-day plan, ensure the companies adhere to the business plan, identify early warning signals, propose course of action and execute the approval of the investment committee and/or board.
  
  

Internal Process

• Comply with the Group’s internal policies, guidelines and procedures, and external regulatory and compliance requirements;
• Escalate potential breach in regulation, policies, procedures and red flags in investee companies and partners.
  
  

Learning & Growth

• Work with the investment team to gain a deep understanding of the private equity industry, including investment strategies, deal sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio management;
• Develop expertise in financial modelling and analysis by assisting with the creation of financial models and analysing data to support investment decision-making;
• Learn how to conduct thorough market research to identify potential investment opportunities and industry trends;
• Gain experience in preparing due diligence reports and investment proposals, which can be used to build a portfolio of work samples for future job applications;
• Attend team meetings and contribute to discussions and initiatives, building communication and collaboration skills;
• Seek out opportunities to attend industry events or webinars, furthering their knowledge of the private equity industry and building a professional network;
• Receive feedback on performance regularly and use this feedback to set personal development goals and continuously improve their skills and abilities.
