About Our Client

Our client is a market leader in the businesses, industries and key markets they operate in. In line with the growth of their business and headcount, they are also scaling and building strong legal leadership team and additional resources to build up stronger legal and governance infrastructure as they continuously scale up. They are now searching for a Group / Regional (GM or Head of Legal) to provide leadership to the legal function and to develop, coach, mentor other legal professionals for success.

Job Description

  • Provide overall leadership and strategic directions to the legal functions
  • Assume the role of Counsel and Advisor to the senior management in providing strategic legal advice aligned with commercial goals to achieve overarching company's objectives and strategies
  • Management of legal risks with strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management
  • Establishing legal function as an exemplary center of excellence in the industry and legal community
  • Management (Directly or indirectly) to develop and upskill Legal Counsels, other domain Legal Specialists and Paralegals/Legal Assistants across the different entities and jurisdictions with the aim of ensuring credible and high value add legal support
  • Implementation of legal strategies/policies and operationalisation of processes to guide and support business
  • Cultivating culture of compliance with all applicable laws and regulations across different jurisdictions
  • Development and execution of the global/regional legal strategy, policies and projects
  • Mobilisation of initiatives at group level and ensuring harmonisation across the different entities


The Successful Applicant

  • Track record of leading from the front as a Legal Professional and Leader
  • Legal degree from a recognised/accredited university is compulsory. Postgraduate qualifications or Professional credentials will be highly desired (Both in the Legal or Commercial / Business domain)
  • Minimum 10 years of PQE (Remuneration and Banding will be accorded based on overall experience)
  • Demonstrated results in converting a legal support function into trusted business advisory function, including ability to optimise legal function in-house vs outsourcing / engagement of external panel of lawyers
  • Previous experience in managing or leading a team of Legal Counsels, diverse domain Legal Specialists or Legal Assistants/Paralegals (Team size does not matter, most important is you are open to scaling up and skilling up)
  • Strong balance of both legal and commercial acumen
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, both internal and external
