About The Position

Virtuos Malaysia is currently looking for a talented Senior Technical Artist with Engineering and Art experience, speaking the language of a programmer but can also work as an artist. Leveraging both sides to create unique collaborations, tools, content. Including procedural and generative content.

Responsibilities

  • Creation of basic automation scripts, and small tools inside and outside the 3d application.
  • Creating complex materials/shaders, VFX, optimizations require technical knowledge.
  • Researching and applying technical animation workflows, procedural animations/simulations, physically based motions.
  • Training art teams in the use of specific tools and best practices.
  • Creating a bridge between artists and programmers by researching, developing, and applying new methods and tools


Qualifications

  • Understanding of physically based rendering (PBR), lighting, and shading.
  • Able to apply an artistic skill for small tasks require technical knowledge.
  • Unreal Engine proficiency.
  • Good knowledge of Maya, or 3d Studio max, or ZBrush, or Blender.
  • Programming experience in a scripting language: Python, MEL, Max Script or similar
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of revision control systems, such as Git, Perforce.


Bonus Points

  • Houdini proficiency.
  • Dos batch programming or Windows Powershell.
  • C++ knowledge
  • Experience with middleware such as JALI, FaceFX, Substance 3D Designer, Marvelous Designer, etc.
  • Rigging and animation knowledge.
  • Shipped a game as a technical artist.
