A fast-growing global fund services firm is looking for a passionate and hands-on APAC HR Manager/ Senior Manager for the team in Malaysia. As a newly created position, this role requires a dynamic leader who understands business needs and is prepared to roll up their sleeves to get things done. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment and have extensive experience in HR operations, particularly in the Malaysia and the Philippines, including hiring, payroll, and talent acquisition.

Reporting

This role will report to the Associate Director, overseeing HR Functions, HR Systems, and Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Strategy Development:
    • Lead and implement a comprehensive strategy for HR systems, processes, and compliance that aligns with organizational goals.
    • Collaborate with senior leaders and key stakeholders to identify and implement best practices for process improvement.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure HR functions and processes remain current and compliant.
  • HR Functions, Systems, and Processes Management:
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable HR systems, including HRIS, talent acquisition, performance management, and onboarding.
    • Identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks, implementing streamlined and automated solutions.
    • Promote the effective use of HR systems across the organization through training and support.
  • Legal Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure business continuity plans for core HR systems and processes.
    • Keep informed about changing legal and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance across the organization.
    • Manage employment law compliance across APAC regions such as Hong Kong, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, India, and the US.
  • Employee Experience and Support:
    • Partner with People Teams and other stakeholders to ensure HR processes align with employee needs and promote a positive experience.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members on system usage, process adherence, and compliance matters.
    • Resolve escalated issues related to HR functions, systems, processes, and compliance.
  • Compensation & Benefits:
    • Manage and review HR policies, covering employment practices, compensation & benefits, and employee insurance across APAC regions.
    • Oversee payroll management ensuring timely payment of variable pay items.
    • Manage payroll and expense budgets.
    • Handle performance and disciplinary management.
    • Conduct labor surveys and HR reporting.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Technology, or a related field.
  • PMP certification is highly advantageous.
  • Over 8 years of experience in HR operations, systems, process improvement, and compliance roles.
  • Strong understanding of HR functions, systems, and technologies such as HRIS and talent management.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience in implementing and optimizing HR functions and processes in complex organizations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities and the capability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with hiring, payroll, or talent acquisition in the Philippines is highly preferred.
  • Passion for HR and a hands-on approach to leadership.
