If you are looking to grow in an exciting career filled with opportunities and potential, we are seeking a professional to join our team as Assistant Vice President, Data Management & Governance.

The Role:

  • Partner with senior management team, business leaders and technology department to drive an enterprise-wide Data Governance strategy, operationalize the data management policies, procedures and standards;
  • Steer the business and support units to achieve their goals in a compliance, effective and efficient manner using data and technology;
  • Facilitate sharing and adoption of data governance best practices through governance consuls and committees within the various divisions;
  • Guide users through data governance concepts, explaining the benefits of data governance policies and procedures within the context of the user's needs;
  • Strategize with Group Data Management & Governance team to shift mindset and embed data obligations and accountabilities into everyone’s day to day activities, and to develop self-service data culture to improve overall business efficiency;
  • Lead the team to implement data governance programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with regulations and policies, enhance the data health and raise the value of data;
  • Perform oversight on all data governance programs and initiatives to ensure alignment and effective implementation across the country;
  • Design and run initiatives to raise the overall data literacy and data control obligations across the country to enable intelligent workforce;
  • Maintain data governance artefacts (e.g. framework, policies, standards and guidelines) to ensure compliance with regulations, relevancy and up-to-date to meet the organization’s strategic objectives and business needs;
  • Take accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company
  • Highlight any potential concerns /risks and proactively shares best risk management practices
  • Other responsibilities entailed

The Person:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognised tertiary institution with at least 10 years of work experience where at least 5 years of hands-on experience in data governance, data management, compliance or data-related programs in insurance or financial services industry;
  • Demonstrate aptitude in data governance activities and best practices;
  • Strong influencing skills at a senior level and across the firm, with the ability to credibly engage in order to frame, sell, influence and negotiate;
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of the divisions arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas;
  • Familiarity with data quality methods, storage repositories and tools across a global asset management landscape;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to communicate and manage different levels of stakeholders across the organisation and navigate through conflicts and differences competently and with ease;
  • Ability to identify, challenge and consider opportunities outside of conventional thinking to resolve problems and address gaps to improve the current state & embrace new changes;
  • Detail oriented and analytical, with good problem solving, organizational skills, and program management knowledge and experience;
  • Exposure and understanding on data, technology risks and technology landscape (e.g. data warehouse, AI and ML) will be a bonus;
  • High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork
  • Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes
