Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced In-House Counsel to join our team and support our legal and compliance needs at Venovox. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment law, data privacy, and regulatory compliance, particularly as it pertains to background screening practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing legal advice and support to the Venovox and advising them on legal and regulatory risks.
  • Providing advice, support as well as drafting, negotiating and reviewing local commercial services and procurement contracts in line with local/country regulations.
  • Introducing, maintaining and supporting contract management system for the local offices
  • Monitor and ensure that personal data is processed in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
  • Promote a culture of data protection compliance, provide data protection advice and support, proactively conduct audits to ensure compliance and address potential issues.
  • Liaising with the board of directors.
  • Provide legal guidance on employment law i.e. Credit Reporting Agencies Act 2010, and other relevant regulations affecting background screening.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate client agreements, vendor contracts, and other legal documents.
  • Ensure compliance with local & regional laws related to background checks, data privacy, and consumer protection.
  • Monitor and analyze changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company's operations and compliance efforts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including HR and operations, to develop and implement policies and procedures that mitigate legal risks.
  • Manage and coordinate responses to legal inquiries, including those related to potential litigation and regulatory investigations.
  • Work with external counsel as necessary to address complex legal issues or litigation.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified lawyer with minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant work experience.
  • Experience in legal drafting, contract negotiation and corporate matters.
  • Expertise in data protection laws and practices i.e. Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of the team.
  • Personal credibility, integrity and high moral standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Good communication skills coupled with the ability to liaise with people internationally, through spoken and written channels and at all levels.
  • Detail oriented, well-organized, concern for quality.
  • Strong understanding of the Credit Reporting Agencies Act 2010, data privacy laws, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
