Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced In-House Counsel to join our team and support our legal and compliance needs at Venovox. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment law, data privacy, and regulatory compliance, particularly as it pertains to background screening practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing legal advice and support to the Venovox and advising them on legal and regulatory risks.
- Providing advice, support as well as drafting, negotiating and reviewing local commercial services and procurement contracts in line with local/country regulations.
- Introducing, maintaining and supporting contract management system for the local offices
- Monitor and ensure that personal data is processed in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
- Promote a culture of data protection compliance, provide data protection advice and support, proactively conduct audits to ensure compliance and address potential issues.
- Liaising with the board of directors.
- Provide legal guidance on employment law i.e. Credit Reporting Agencies Act 2010, and other relevant regulations affecting background screening.
- Draft, review, and negotiate client agreements, vendor contracts, and other legal documents.
- Ensure compliance with local & regional laws related to background checks, data privacy, and consumer protection.
- Monitor and analyze changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company's operations and compliance efforts.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including HR and operations, to develop and implement policies and procedures that mitigate legal risks.
- Manage and coordinate responses to legal inquiries, including those related to potential litigation and regulatory investigations.
- Work with external counsel as necessary to address complex legal issues or litigation.
Qualifications:
- Qualified lawyer with minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant work experience.
- Experience in legal drafting, contract negotiation and corporate matters.
- Expertise in data protection laws and practices i.e. Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of the team.
- Personal credibility, integrity and high moral standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Good communication skills coupled with the ability to liaise with people internationally, through spoken and written channels and at all levels.
- Detail oriented, well-organized, concern for quality.
- Strong understanding of the Credit Reporting Agencies Act 2010, data privacy laws, and relevant industry regulations.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
