Minimum Qualifications: Relevant Swimming qualification(s) + Teaching Qualification Minimum Experience: New Graduates (with teaching qualification) wanting a career in teaching swimming are encouraged to apply Details: Applicants are expected to have knowledge of swimming standards set in the Physical Education Programme of Study from EYFS to Key Stage 5, as set by the National Curriculum of England and Wales. Applicants MUST possess a strong command of the English language. OUTPUTS & STANDARDS • Adhere to the rules and regulations in all current elc Handbooks (e.g Employee Handbook, Teaching and Learning Policy, Guidelines & Procedures, Child Protection Policy, Health and Safety, etc). • Plan, teach and manage assigned classes independently or in teams. • Develop disciplined and appropriate behaviour of all students in school and outside of school during official School trips and activities. • Monitor the academic and pastoral progress of students in one class as assigned by the HoKS. • Keep the Head of Division informed of any noticeable change in student progress or behaviour without delay. • Work collaboratively as part of team led by the Head of Division to make up for absent colleagues and to share ideas and teaching/learning practices which have proven to be effective. • Follow the lead of Senior Teachers and Lead Teachers in the practices of teaching and learning appropriates for each year group. • Complete all administration work (e.g. class grades, test marks, mid + year end reports, subject comments, marking & feedback, etc) in a timely fashion and ensure the School’s Management System is up to date and error free. • Keep dated records of all teaching plans and lesson reflections. • Draft assessments and mark schemes and submit to the relevant Head of Department for checking and corrections to meet set deadlines. • Mark and grade answer scripts regularly, correctly and impartially, always supplying timely and supportive feedback to students. • Plan and achieve term by term progress in the academic and non-academic performance of all students regardless of their levels of ability. • Plan and have adequate equipment and consumables for effective teaching in place for each class. • Discussions with parents regarding the performance of children to be limited to scheduled parent/ teacher meeting. • At all times interact with parents in a professional manner and tone. • Maintain a conducive learning environment in the classroom. • Monitor and review individual student progress and make appropriate interventions as and when required, or as directed by the Head of Division. • Keep the environment of the classroom clean and tidy at all times, avoiding clutter. • Carry out non-teaching duties as per arranged schedule (e.g. pick up, drop off, break, lunch and extended duties). • Keep a digital record of reflections upon practices and self-improvement opportunities. • Refer any queries/ visitors from a government department or agency to the Senior Admin Manager. • Create a stimulating, positive and supportive learning environment which is well organised and demonstrates professional teaching practices of the highest quality. • Use a range of teaching and assessment strategies to ensure that effective learning takes place. • Adapt approaches to teaching, learning and assessment to meet individual learner needs (differentiated teaching), always complying with the guidelines set by the Principal or Heads of Division. • Develop students capable of independent study and research. • Develop and maintain Schemes of Work, in line with relevant Head of Department requirements. If assigned a homeroom by the Head of Division or Principal, additional duties include: • Deliver PSHE lessons in line with curriculum requirements and with guidance from the Director of Student Welfare/ Head of Student Welfare. • Get to know your homeroom students’ personalities and interests in order to better motivate and inspire them to reach their potential. • Be available and approachable to your homeroom students at all times. • Develop homeroom students’ moral compass and life skills in line with established School policies. • Develop a sense of community in the Homeroom and help them understand their place in the wider world, both in terms of School and in society. • Monitor behaviour by engaging all staff that come into contact with your homeroom students, thereby developing a wider picture of the general sentiment for each of your homeroom students. • Motivate students to adhere to the School Code when necessary or implement appropriate interventions if required. • Ensure accurate records of attendance are maintained and updated on the management system. • Be aware of academic and social development of each member of your homeroom class, including observations in homeroom comments for every report issued. • Together with the Head of Division ensure accurate and prompt communications with parents for both good and bad reasons (ensure that communications with parents are not always for negative reasons, celebrate successes too). • Keep the relevant Head of Division, Head of Department and/ or Counselor up to date on matters of discipline, academic performance, social issues, etc.
