Minimum qualification -Diploma in nursing with valid nursing practising lisence Experience in nursing with minimum 3 years clinical experience ICU/ HDU/ OT Experience in nursing patient which; On mechanical ventilator and inotropes support, haemodynamic monitoring, basic ECG and ABG interpretation, experience in nursing post op cardiac and neuro surgery. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES A) Management of department to ensure efficient and effective daily operational activities. It is achieved by:- 1) Responding to changing activity and critically ill patient dependency by optimum management of available resources. 2) Anticipating potential risk and execute appropriate action to ensure patient safety 3) Demonstrating operational knowledge of nursing procedure applicable to area of assignment. 4) Assuming leadership role for unit personnel to prepare and assist them with their responsibilities in the unit. B) Planning and managing of patient care in the department to fulfill and exceed customer satisfaction. It is achieved by:- 1) Performing or carrying out nursing care as per Standard Operating Procedures and Policies. 2) Effective communication and collaboration with all parties concerned to ensure the best clinical outcome for the customer. 3) Handling and resolving customer’s complaints promptly C) Providing safe and effective nursing services to customers in order to achieve customer satisfaction. It is achieved by:- 1) Ensuring completion of all competencies and orientation checklist within stipulated time frame. 2) Addressing customer’s complaints promptly. 3) Exceeding set standards and quality in nursing care rendered. 4) Attend in-service programs organized by the hospital and keep nursing knowledge and skills up to date. D) Provide supervision and guidance towards junior nurses to ensure high Standard of nursing care is provided at all times. It is achieved by: 1) Undertaking the supervision of newly qualified nurses. 2) Assist with the orientation of new members of staff. 3) Coach, teach and supervise junior staff PICU/ NICU JD Planning and managing of patient care in NICU to fulfill and exceed customer satisfaction by: • Care for sick neonates whose required closed observation care e.g. newborn infants who are premature (<34 weeks old), or who are in critical condition and may require surgery. • Care for sick neonates which needed specialized equipment in caring for infants (e.g., ventilators, incubators, cooling machine, Nitric Oxide, etc.). • Interpret / analyze test results and act upon them and / or refer to another health professional as required. • Provide holistic care for sick neonates under the guidance of protocols and / or a plan devised by their consultant. • Recognize the warning signs of abnormality in the neonates and able to perform neonatal resuscitation. • Take necessary emergency measures in the absence of medical aid. • Examine and care for the new born infant and carry out, where necessary or immediate resuscitation needed. • Assist and provide support to parent in handling their sick neonates • Care for and monitor the progress of the neonates and to guide new parents to properly care for their newborn infant as one of the discharge planning intervention. It is achieved by: • Performing and carried out nurse care services as per standard operating procedures and policies. • Anticipating potential risk and execute appropriate action to ensure safe environment. • Demonstrating operational knowledge of nursing procedure applicable to area of assignment ie: NICU. • Assuming leadership role for others to prepare and assist them with their responsibilities in the unit. • Managing resources to achieve optimum productivity. • Administering medications to neonates and monitoring them for side effects and reactions • Recording neonates’ vital signs and medical information • Monitoring, reporting and recording symptoms or changes in neonates’ conditions. • Maintaining accurate, complete healthcare records and reports. • Performing effective communication and collaboration with all parties involved to ensure the best clinical outcome of the patients. Multidisplinary/ orthopaedic / paediatric ward- experience in nursing medical and surgical patients • Perform vital signs and wound dressing • Follow doctor round • Be the team leader • Be preceptor and guiding junior • Serving medicaltion • pre and post op care
