JOB DESCRIPTION - TECHNICAL SPECIALIST Technical Specialist help maintain and repair industrial machinery. This may include working on factory equipment like production machinery, packaging equipment and conveying systems. They are also often tasked with installing, repairing, dismantling, reassembling and moving machines within a factory, plant or construction site. The roles and responsibilities of the technical specialist in mining industry will include the following: • Technical specialist machinery and equipment to dig, load and transport ore, rock and sand or in open-cut mines. It's common for specialist to work in rural and remote locations, often living a fly-in/fly-out lifestyle. • Conducting thorough technical due diligence on mining projects being considered for investment including assessing machineries data, mining methods, resource estimation, and technical feasibility studies to evaluate the potential risks and returns of the investment. • Identifying and evaluating technical risks associated with mining projects, including technical risks, operational risks, regulatory risks, and machineries risks. • Collaborating with investments analysts to develop financial models for mining projects, incorporating technical data such as production estimates, operating costs, and capital expenditures. Analyzing the financial viability and potential returns of the investment based on various scenarios and assumptions. • Provides technical assistance, instruction, and consultation for the resolution of problems. Reads, interprets, and uses blueprints and schematics, instructions, manuals, or shop drawings to understand specifications of work. Assists with training and provides technical guidance to others. Advises on product design. • Participating in the valuation of mining projects, considering both technical factors and financial factors. Providing input on the determination of project value and investment attractiveness. • Providing technical expertise and insights to support investment decisions through presenting technical findings and recommendations highlighting key risks and opportunities. • Formulation of a monitoring strategy to assess the technical performance of invested mining projects throughout their lifecycle, including construction, development, and production phases. • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and permitting requirements for mining operations. • Provides technical support identifying, investigating, and resolving users’ problems with hardware for problems that are beyond the expertise of Technical Specialist. • Keeping abreast of regulatory changes and developments that may impact investments in the mining sector and advising on compliance strategies. • Conducting research and analysis on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the mining industry. • Evaluating new opportunities and innovations that may enhance the technical and financial performance of mining investments. • Engaging with various stakeholders involved in mining projects, including government agencies, traditional leadership, local communities, environmental groups, and industry associations.
