Machinery and Equipment Management: Oversee the daily operations, upkeep, and performance of all production machinery, including furnaces, casting machines, rolling mills, refining systems, and other equipment used in copper production. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance: Ensure that all machinery operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, both local and international. Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation plans. Implement safety protocols and ensure that all staff adhere to safety procedures when operating machinery. Participate in emergency response planning and accident investigations to ensure a safe work environment. Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving equipment performance, energy efficiency, and production capacity. Lead projects focused on process optimization, cost reduction, and energy-saving initiatives by integrating modern technological solutions. Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance equipment efficiency. Budgeting and Cost Control: Prepare and manage the maintenance and capital expenditure (CapEx) budget for the facility’s machinery. Monitor spending on repairs, spare parts, and maintenance activities to ensure cost-effectiveness and budget adherence. Analyze and report on machinery-related costs, proposing cost-saving measures without compromising safety or production quality. Technology and Innovation: Stay updated on advancements in manufacturing technologies, including automation, robotics, and predictive maintenance tools, and assess their potential application in the copper manufacturing process. Implement new technologies and machinery upgrades to enhance production capabilities and efficiency. Liaise with equipment suppliers and vendors to ensure timely procurement of spare parts and upgrades. Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with production managers, engineers, and IT teams to align machinery performance with production goals and optimize overall plant efficiency. Collaborate with corporate headquarters and other international teams to align facility operations with global standards and practices. Provide technical support to other departments as needed and participate in facility-wide problem-solving initiatives. Project Management: Lead and manage projects related to machinery installation, upgrades, and relocations. Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet technical specifications. Manage contractors and suppliers for machinery installation and ensure proper commissioning and training of staff on new equipment. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all equipment operations, maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications. Prepare regular reports on machinery performance, maintenance activities, and equipment reliability for senior management. Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment uptime, production efficiency, and maintenance costs.
