Role Summary: The Field Application Engineer (FAE) acts as the technical bridge between VAT and its key customers, specializing in understanding customer processes, applications, and tools to deliver tailored solutions. This role requires strong technical skills in engineering software and tools, as well as expertise in quality and project management, to effectively support customers, identify new business opportunities, and inform VAT’s product roadmap. The FAE is essential in guiding customers toward optimized products and proactively addressing upcoming technical challenges. Key Responsibilities: 1. Technical Support & Product Development: • Define specifications for new and existing products based on customer needs and perform hands-on support during New Product Introduction (NPI). • Provide timely, accurate responses to customer inquiries as the main technical liaison. 2. Customer Relationship & Escalation Management: • Serve as the technical expert, addressing customer issues and managing escalations in collaboration with product managers and HQ. • Capture and communicate customer feedback to ensure alignment with VAT’s offerings. 3. Market & Competitor Insights: • Conduct market and competitor analysis to inform VAT’s competitive positioning and product development. 4. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: • Engage with the global engineering team to align on strategies and contribute to VAT’s knowledge-sharing platforms. 5. Innovation & Product Improvement: • Monitor competitor landscape and support Product Managers in shaping product evolution based on customer insights and market trends. Technical Skills and Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of experience, or a Diploma with at least 10 years of experience in a similar technical support or application engineering role. • Proven experience in vacuum engineering, particularly in the IC, OEM, or fabrication industries, with hands-on experience in fab or lab settings. • GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), 8D Problem Solving, Quality Management Foundations, Project Management Foundations. • SAP, MS Office, PowerBI, CREO, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, ANSYS, MATLAB. • Root Cause Analysis, FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), CAD Modeling, DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report), Design Review, FEA (Finite Element Analysis). Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with VAT product lines, particularly in valve or vacuum technologies. • Demonstrated creativity in system-level or sub-system-level engineering within the SEMI industry. • Strong customer-oriented mindset with a passion for identifying technical challenges and driving innovative solutions.
