We are a vibrant café known for offering freshly baked pastries and cakes every day. With a strong commitment to quality, we pride ourselves on using only the finest ingredients to create delicious, handcrafted products in our in-house kitchen. As a part of our continued growth, we are looking for a passionate and skilled Demi Chef (Baker & Pastry ) to join our team and contribute to delivering exceptional baked goods to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the daily preparation and baking of a wide range of pastries, cakes, breads, and desserts according to our recipes and quality standards.
- Ensure all baked goods are produced to the highest standards of taste, texture, and visual appeal.
- Follow daily production schedules to ensure all required items are available for sale during operating hours.
- Handle all dough preparation, mixing, shaping, and baking processes with attention to detail.
- Work alongside the Head Pastry Chef to develop new pastry and cake offerings, experimenting with flavors and textures while maintaining consistency and quality.
- Assist in scaling recipes based on sales projections and customer demand.
- Ensure all baked goods are of the highest quality, adhering to food safety standards, and are presented beautifully.
- Regularly inspect ingredients, baked goods, and equipment to ensure cleanliness and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist with product quality checks, identifying and troubleshooting any production issues.
- Assist in monitoring inventory levels of baking ingredients and supplies, ensuring that all necessary materials are stocked and fresh.
- Help in ordering and managing supplies to avoid waste while ensuring a steady supply of materials.
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow in the pastry section.
- Assist with training and mentoring junior bakers and kitchen assistants as needed.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely and efficient service, especially during peak hours.
- Follow proper hygiene and sanitation procedures in all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
- Adhere to food safety regulations regarding the handling, storage, and preparation of ingredients.
- Contribute to the creative presentation of pastries and cakes for display in the café, ensuring they look appetizing and visually appealing to customers.
- Maintain consistency in portion sizes, decoration, and product finishing.
- Assist in managing the daily kitchen operations, including mise en place preparation, maintaining a clean workstation, and ensuring equipment is functioning properly.
- Be proactive in identifying areas for operational improvements to increase efficiency.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Diploma in Culinary Arts, Pastry, or Baking from a recognized culinary institution or academy.
- At least 2-3 years of experience working in a pastry kitchen, with hands-on experience in baking and pastry preparation.
- Strong knowledge of pastry and baking techniques, including bread-making, cake decoration, and pastry production.
- Ability to follow precise recipes and produce consistently high-quality results.
- Strong attention to detail in both the preparation and presentation of baked goods.
- Familiarity with using industrial kitchen equipment, including ovens, mixers, and pastry tools.
- Creativity and passion for developing new recipes and flavors.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Strong ability to work in a team and collaborate with other kitchen and café staff.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,500.00 per month
