Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and clinical workshops for medical students in the field of psychiatry.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and mentorship to medical students during clinical rotations in psychiatry, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and adherence to ethical standards.
  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and enhancement of psychiatry curricula, incorporating innovative teaching methodologies and evidence-based practices.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including clinical research, translational research, and educational research, with a focus on advancing psychiatric knowledge and improving mental healthcare outcomes.
  • Participate in clinical services within the psychiatry department's affiliated healthcare facilities, providing expert psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to patients across the lifespan.
  • Collaborate with local mental health organizations, community agencies, and advocacy groups to promote mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and address community mental health needs.
  • Stay current with developments through continuing education, professional conferences, and collaboration with peers, contributing to the academic and intellectual life of the department and institution.

Qualifications

  • MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical degree listed in the Malaysian Medical Council.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry or equivalent listed in the Malaysian Medical Council.
  • Registered with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC)
  • Possess a National Specialist Register (NSR)
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in psychiatry to medical students and residents or equivalent experience in practise
  • Strong clinical skills and extensive experience in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Record of scholarly activity, including publications and conference presentations with at least 5 publications in indexed journals
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with a focus on diversity and inclusion in medical education and practice.
