Job Summary
The Head of School for Medical Imaging is responsible for overseeing the academic, administrative, and operational functions of the School of Medical Imaging. This role includes ensuring the delivery of high-quality education, advancing research in medical imaging, and maintaining compliance with local and international accreditation standards. The Head of School will also lead the development of curricula, support faculty development, and foster relationships with healthcare organizations to provide students with practical experience and career opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Lead the development and implementation of the School of Medical Imaging’s strategic vision, aligning with the institution's objectives.
- Oversee the continuous improvement of medical imaging programs, ensuring they reflect current industry trends and technological advancements.
- Promote a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Academic Management
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality academic programs, including curriculum development, course design, and program evaluation.
- Collaborate with faculty and industry experts to develop and update curricula that meet both national and international standards in medical imaging education.
- Oversee clinical training and ensure that students are well-prepared for real-world applications of medical imaging technology.
Faculty Leadership and Development
- Lead the recruitment, mentoring, and professional development of faculty within the School of Medical Imaging.
- Encourage faculty participation in research, clinical practice, and continuing education to maintain high standards of teaching and professional practice.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to support faculty growth and development.
Manpower Planning
- Involve in workforce planning and forecasting, ensuring the School has adequate staff and faculty to meet educational and operational demands.
- Collaborate with the institution's HR department to develop recruitment strategies and plan for long-term staffing needs
Student Success and Enrollment Management
- Ensure the implementation of student support programs aimed at enhancing retention, graduation rates, and academic success.
- Collaborate with admissions and marketing teams to achieve student recruitment targets, ensuring steady growth in student numbers.
- Oversee student admissions, placements, and career services to support graduates in achieving successful nursing careers.
- Foster an inclusive, supportive, and safe learning environment for students.
- Ensure that students receive a comprehensive education that includes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in medical imaging.
Marketing and Outreach
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the School of Medical Imaging and its programs, attracting prospective students and partners.
- Collaborate with the institution’s marketing department to create promotional materials, social media campaigns, and outreach initiatives.
- Represent the School of Medical Imaging at educational fairs, open days, and other marketing events to boost visibility and student enrollment.
- Research and Industry Engagement
- Promote research initiatives within the School of Medical Imaging, encouraging faculty and students to contribute to advancements in medical imaging technology and practices.
- Build partnerships with healthcare institutions and medical imaging centers to facilitate clinical placements, internships, and collaborative research.
- Encourage faculty and student engagement in industry-related activities to maintain the relevance of the School’s programs.
Accreditation and Compliance
Ensure compliance with national and international medical imaging education standards, including regulations from the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) and international accrediting bodies.
Lead the accreditation and re-accreditation processes, preparing the School for audits and external reviews.
Monitor regulatory changes in healthcare and medical imaging to ensure the School remains compliant and current.
Stakeholder and Community Engagement
- Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, government agencies, and professional bodies.
- Serve as the School’s representative in external forums, conferences, and networking events to enhance its profile in the medical imaging community.
- Collaborate with other schools and departments within the institution to support interdisciplinary initiatives and shared goals.
Operational and Financial Management
- Manage the operational budget for the School of Medical Imaging, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial goals.
- Oversee the administrative functions of the School, including scheduling, resource allocation, and facilities management.
- Provide regular reports on the School’s performance to senior leadership.
- Business Development and Community Engagement
- Lead efforts to generate revenue, ensuring the School meets its financial targets and enhances its financial sustainability.
- Represent the School in marketing and outreach activities, strengthening its profile and building strategic partnerships with industry, alumni, and other stakeholders.
- Promote the School’s involvement in community and industry partnerships, enhancing its impact and relevance.
Requirements
Education:
o PhD or Doctorate in Medical Imaging, Radiology, or a related field. (A Master’s degree with significant experience may be considered).
o Professional certification in Medical Imaging or Radiology, with recognition by relevant Malaysian regulatory bodies.
Experience:
o Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in medical imaging education or clinical practice, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or academic management role.
o Proven experience in curriculum development, clinical practice, and academic administration.
o Track record of research and publications in medical imaging or related areas is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
o Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to lead a multidisciplinary team.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong command of both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
o In-depth knowledge of medical imaging technology, trends, and regulatory requirements.
o Proven ability to manage resources, budgets, and administrative functions effectively.
o Strong commitment to promoting student success, faculty development, and academic excellence.
Other Requirements:
o Familiarity with Malaysian healthcare regulations and accreditation processes in medical imaging education.
o Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare institutions, professional bodies, and government agencies.
o Willingness to engage in continuous professional development and stay current with medical imaging advancements.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM9,000.00 - RM11,000.00 per month
