Technical Author (EU Time Zone)
Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
- Develop technical documentation and user manuals that comply with Mettler Toledo guidelines and templates.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, such as user manuals and operation manuals.
- Manage and maintain documentation in accordance with ISO and MT corporate standards.
- Use ST4 Schema to organize and update technical content (fragments, tables, graphical images), along with preparing files for translation and creating bluebooks.
- Manage document version control within Schema and through ECRs, to ensure latest version is available to all parties and changes are logged.
- Manage translation process for documents with external translation company (extract Xml files from Schema, generate translation reports, pull together UI strings)
- Ensure new or amended documentation is distributed via SAP, Teamcenter, online, eDocs, internal network (Manuals Matrix).
- Manage manual review process and involve subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy of documents.

- Continually seek improvement opportunities and develop internal processes to support (cost, time to market, increased knowledge transfer, market coverage etc.)
- Maintain compliance requirements for technical documentation and user manuals.
- Support the Product Management team with all aspects of technical authoring.
- Work closely with subject matter experts to understand product features and translate them into clear and concise documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, R&D, and Service, to ensure accuracy and completeness of the documentation.
Qualifications or Functional Experience
- Proven experience developing a range of technical publications across a range of media.
- Minimum of 3 years of technical writing experience in the industry.
- Broad technical background, preferably with electromechanical / instrumentation experience.
- Higher level qualification in Technical Communications or related discipline.
Skills, Knowledge Experience
- Working knowledge and understanding of Content Management Systems.
- Experience in using Schema or other content management systems.
- Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) & Adobe Pro
- Experience developing multi-lingual documentation across a range of media.
- Effective management of translation in numerous languages
- Proven project documentation, product specification, and technical writing skills
- Experienced in producing technical documents for products comprising software, graphical HMI, electronics & electromechanical subsystems
