Job description:
Job purpose
- Supports the deliverables of Group Accounts team on the preparation of reports for internal and external reporting during monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting process. Some of the key deliverables includes preparation of circular to shareholders, Group Audited Financial Statements (“AFS”), Integrated Annual Reports for Annual General Meeting to shareholders, monitoring submission of reports from Opcos and ensuring the resolution of audit and accounting issues of the assigned Opcos. Each GA team is a Chartered Accountant that can also provide technical advice to the respective Opcos when required.
- Each team member in Group Accounts team will be assigned to different portfolio of Operating Companies (“Opcos”) in digital Telco, infrastructure or digital segments, taking the role of Key Account Manager (“KAM”).
Job scope & authority
- Make decisions regarding administrative matters within the scope of the role, seeking approval from HOD and GFC, when necessary.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to ensure deadlines are met.
- Manage resources and network of people across the Group efficiently and effectively to accomplish assigned tasks and responsibilities.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing information, updates, and reports as required.
- Provide accurate and timely reports on job-related activities and achievements as required.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies in carrying out job duties.
- Access and handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism, maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.
Key accountabilities
- Foster a collaborative working environment within and across divisions to attain key corporate goals and initiatives
- Collaborate with Opcos to develop healthy professional relationships and ensuring Opcos submission of deliverables in alignment with divisional objectives
- As KAM, manage timely submission of financial reporting and other reporting deliverables for entities under own portfolio, for accurate consolidation and preparation of Group financial statements on monthly and quarterly basis for internal and external reporting.
- Identify and manage resolution of accounting and audit issues for the assigned entities to ensure timely audit and accounting resolution at Group.
- Provide technical advice whenever necessary under the role of KAM or during special projects involving cross division or M&A exercises, on consolidation issues, accounting standards or related to other accounting and listed requirements issues.
- Assist other internal divisions in Corporate Centre, Investor Relations (“IR”), Corporate Communications (Comms), Group Cosec for public/ external announcements, BP, Strategic Finance, Treasury, Tax, Corporate Development, Group People Division, Corporate Office on the alignment of financial numbers for internal management reports or for the purpose of external reporting.
Key Result Area
The role has the following mandates and responsibilities:
- Consolidation of group results for Axiata Group Berhad and preparation of audited financial statements for Axiata Group Berhad
- Preparation of internal / external reports to management and BAC/BOD, based on the consolidated results and submission by each Opcos in accordance to the requirements of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (“MFRS”)
- To monitor financial reporting, analysis, accounting and audit issues by Opcos under portfolio to ensure submission timely for the quarterly reporting by Group
- Coordination/ dissemination of accurate financial information between internal divisions in Corporate Centre, IR Corporate Comms, Group Cosec for public/ external announcements, BP, Strategic Finance, Treasury, Tax, Corporate Development, Group People Division, Corporate Office for internal management reports, especially to ensure alignment of numbers and accurate numbers reported for internal and external reporting purposes.
- Support deliverables to Head, GFC, GCFO and GCEO on the financial reporting numbers of the Group as well as any other ad-hoc assignments / projects in Corporate Centre

(C) Technical competencies
- Able to detect any inconsistencies between the numbers reported in various reports. Highly analytical, able to solve problems and recommend the best solutions for issues involving technical knowledge.
- Highly tactical with thorough knowledge & experience in financial accounting to be able to advise peers from other divisions on the accurate numbers to be reported, especially when dealing with peers from non- financial background. Willing to share knowledge and teach peers with non-financial background.
- Strong understanding of consolidation concept and accounting standards
- Chartered Accountant, with more than 8 years working experience.
(D) System competencies
- Good concept knowledge and application in the following systems: IBM system for Controller ( consolidation system) and Cognos Disclosure Management ( CDM) for Quarterly reports and Audited Financial Statements.
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
(E) Other business acumenUnderstanding of Telco/ Infra / Digital / Enterprise business to be able to report the underlying causes of the performance of Opcos.
