AstraZeneca, one of the world’s leading healthcare companies, is recruiting for a Communication Manager to take forward AstraZeneca’s Malaysia overall strategic communications. This critical role will be responsible to spearhead the planning and implementation of communication strategies that align with our commercial growth objectives and enhance our corporate reputation. This role will involve in managing the company's corporate reputation, public relations, and government affairs strategies. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to enhance the company's reputation, develop strategies for policy change, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs, the role with be based in Malaysia and work as part of a cross-functional team and in partnership with local team and regional/international team to shape perceptions of AstraZeneca, building on its pandemic legacy and proactively shape our reputation in innovation, shape the policy within priority therapy areas and drive sustainability agenda.
Key responsibilities:
Reputation Management:
- Develop and execute strategies to enhance and protect the company's reputation.
- Strengthen local public-private partnerships and private-private partnership with focus
- Identify potential opportunities within various ministries and organisations that will support business growth for short, medium or long term.
Policy Development:
- Develop strategies for influencing policy change that aligns with the company's objective and priority
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments that impact the pharmaceutical industry.
- Advocate for the company's interests in policy discussions and regulatory matters.
Stakeholder Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including media, industry associations, community leaders, and government officials.
- Identify and engage with key stakeholders to build supportive relationships.
- Conduct stakeholder analysis and develop engagement plans to address their needs and concerns.
Crisis Management:
- Develop and implement crisis communication plans to handle potential issues and emergencies.
- Act as the primary point of contact during crises, providing timely and accurate information to stakeholders.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and mentor a team of communications and public relations professionals.
- Set performance goals, provide feedback, and support professional development.

- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Political Science, or a medical-related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate affairs, public relations, or government affairs, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
