Key Responsibilities:

  • Assistance with Tool Maintenance and Repair
  • Assist technicians with routine maintenance and basic repairs of tools, dies, and molds to ensure proper function and quality standards.
  • Clean, lubricate, and inspect tools and molds for wear or damage under supervision.
  • Participate in disassembling and reassembling molds to gain an understanding of their components and functions.
  • Learning and Operating Toolroom Equipment
  • Gain hands-on experience with basic toolroom equipment, including lathes, grinders, and milling machines, under guidance.
  • Observe and support senior technicians in using precision measurement tools, such as micrometers and calipers, to ensure accuracy in tooling adjustments.
  • Follow safety protocols while handling and operating machinery and tools, ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Preventive Maintenance Support
  • Assist in the implementation of preventive maintenance schedules, including cleaning, inspections, and minor adjustments.
  • Learn to record and maintain accurate maintenance logs for activities conducted on molds and tooling equipment.
  • Report any observations of potential issues or irregularities to toolroom supervisors.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving Support
  • Participate in troubleshooting activities, learning how to identify and resolve basic issues with tooling and molds.
  • Support senior technicians in diagnosing tooling issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Documentation and Compliance
  • Assist in maintaining organized records of maintenance activities and repairs within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Follow company policies and industry safety standards, learning best practices for toolroom safety and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or recently completed a technical diploma, certificate, or degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Tool and Die, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and an interest in learning about tool maintenance, repair, and machining.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, measurement tools, and an eagerness to learn toolroom equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to follow safety protocols.

Preferred Skills:

  • Basic understanding of technical drawings, blueprints, or engineering schematics.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and willingness to learn CMMS or maintenance management software.
