The Role
Reporting to: Deputy Head Pastoral, Preparatory School or Head of Pre-prep and Head of Learning Enrichment
The College seeks to employ a well-qualified, enthusiastic, committed, and versatile Teaching Partner in the Preparatory School working as part of the Learning Enrichment Department.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting LE pupils in the Preparatory School and, on a day-to-day basis, the class teachers to carry out the following requirements:
- The ability to uphold the traditions and promote the ethos of Marlborough College Malaysia.
- Act as a specialist, working 1:1 with a specific pupil in the Pre-Preparatory School and with the class teacher.
- Assist a young pupil with learning needs, to develop academically, creatively, socially, and emotionally.
- To complete weekly feedback documentation for parents regarding pupil progress and needs, during allocated non-contact times.
- Attend regular meetings and PRD sessions with the Learning Enrichment department.
- Assist the teacher with differentiating pupils’ learning to support and cater to their needs.
- Work with other professionals to support this pupil.
- Remain professional in manners, and be aware of College policies and schemes of work with young children.
The successful candidate will be allocated non-contact times during school hours to complete weekly records and feedback meetings. They will be allocated adequate break times during the day in line with all staff and exempt from other duties.
Essential Skills and Abilities
In order to meet the high standards expected of a leading professional in our College, the successful candidate will understand and believe in the aims and ethos of a non-franchised British independent education in general and in Marlborough College Malaysia in particular.
He or she should also have an instinctive feel for the independent boarding/day school and international schools’ market, understand the driving motivations of parents and have a demonstrable understanding of the principles of marketing within international education.
In addition, we are seeking to employ a person with the following qualities, experience, skills and abilities:
- Minimum degree in a related teaching field.
- Experience working with children with special needs.
- The ability to read and analyse reports from external professionals/IEPs, develop learning plans and programs for pupils with specific learning needs, liaise and advise teachers on differentiation strategies best suited for a specific pupil and develop pupil-specific learning resources.
- Evidence of either being or having the potential to be an excellent teaching partner to the teachers.
- Clear and effective communication skills in English and ability to communicate with young children.
- The ability to be flexible, the capacity to show initiative, to inspire and motivate young children.
- The ability to look to other members of staff for support and advice on carrying out responsibilities.
- The ability to create and maintain a purposeful, orderly, and supportive environment, following the lesson plans.
- To use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals, and targets/appropriate to Pre-Preparatory School.
- The candidate must have a positive mindset, be energetic and calm.
- The candidate must have a genuine love of children and be flexible in their thinking.
- The candidate must be an excellent team player.
Terms and Conditions
The College’s main working hours are 8.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. This role is during term-time, plus a maximum of 25 additional work days out of term-time.
The remuneration package includes a competitive salary commensurate with the level of experience of the successful candidate. Marlborough College Malaysia will pay for health insurance for you and your eligible dependent/s (if not covered under their own policy).
