About the Role
The role will be with UEM Lestra Berhad.
Responsible and accountable for planning, executing, controlling and closing the projects for Renewable Energy projects, including all of the project components, such as Civil Work, PV farm, BESS, IF, and BOS. This role involves managing all aspects of project delivery, from initial planning through to completion including testing & commissioning and acceptance, ensuring projects meet contract requirements, adhere to budgets, and are delivered on time in a safe manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- To develop and implement detailed Renewable Energy project implementation plans (including objectives, timelines, budgets, and risks), coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and team members to define project scope and requirements, and ensure project plans are aligned with the contracts and organizational goals.
- To create and manage project budgets (including forecasting and tracking project cashflows), monitor project costs and financial performance, implementing cost and schedule control measures as needed and processing invoices payments related to project expenses.
- To assemble and lead project teams, assigning tasks and responsibilities to ensure smooth progress of work, project milestones are met, facilitate effective communication and collaboration among team members and stakeholders, and provide guidance, support, and motivation to team members throughout the project lifecycle.
- To act as the primary point of contact for clients and other multidisciplinary project team and stakeholders, ensuring the contract requirements are met, maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, key suppliers, approving authorities, and resolve any issues that arise during the project.
- To ensure all project work meets the specifications, time and costs expectations, as well as health and safety and regulatory requirements, conduct regular inspections and reviews to identify and address any compliance issues and implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- To identify potential project risks, develop risk response strategies to address them and monitor and maintain risk management plan throughout the project and implement risk mitigation measures as necessary to manage the risk outcomes.
- To progressively monitor and report on the status of the execution of project activities by utilizing the internal and external resources, ensuring they are completed according to the project plan, issues are highlighted and resolved and ensure successful project handover and closure, including finalizing documentation and obtaining client and authority sign-off.
Preferred skills:
- Strong leadership and project management skills at planning, execution, controls and closing stages.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong English communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders’ relationships effectively.
- Sound knowledge of industry-specific workflows, regulations, standards, and best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or other related fields.
- Master’s degree in project management, Engineering and Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, APM, PRINCE2) are advantageous.
- 8 years of work experience managing Renewable Energy or other Power Plants, or commercial or industrial projects, with a proven track record of successful projects delivery.
- Minimum 12 years overall work experience in related fields either as client, consultant or contractor.
