Job Description

  • Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A):


Develop and oversee financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic planning.

Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support decision-making by the executive team and the board.2. Financial Reporting and Compliance:

Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and tax laws.

Coordinate audits and examinations by external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies.3. Capital Management:

Manage the company's capital structure, including debt and equity financing.

Optimize the company's cost of capital and capital allocation strategies.4. Risk Management:

Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, including market risk, credit risk, and operational risk.

Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.5. Treasury Management:

Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to support the company's operations and growth objectives.

Develop and implement strategies for cash management, cash repatriation, and foreign exchange risk management.6. Financial Operations:

Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions. This team includes 25 staff.

Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and reporting systems.

Implement best practices for financial processes, systems, and technology.7. Strategic Leadership:

Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute strategic initiatives and business plans.

Provide financial insights and guidance to support key business decisions and initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

To be considered for this opportunity you will have your professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA) and have recent experience in Retail, Media, Entertainment or FMCG. You will have a strong track record leading and developing high performing teams, as well as experience leading teams and businesses through transformation and change. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required for this role, as you will be engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, from those in operations to the board of the company and the board of the parent company. Those from a big 4 background will be highly regarded, although this is not essential.

The role will partner directly with the CEO, a well-known and respected individual, in order to drive the growth strategy of the business in order for the company to continue taking market share. Whilst the CFO's role will focus on this particular subsidiary, there will be opportunities to progress in the future, which may include larger remits across some of the other businesses in the groups portfolio, most of which are also well-known brands in Malaysia.
