Job Description
An Accountant Assistant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, analysing financial data, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. They play a crucial role in supporting sound financial decision-making within an organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Prepare and process financial transactions, including invoices, payments, and expense reports.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
Financial Analysis:
- Analyse financial data to identify trends, assess performance, and make informed recommendations.
- Prepare financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial health.
Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare and file tax returns (corporate, income, sales, etc.).
- Advise on tax planning strategies to minimise tax liabilities.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present financial reports to management and stakeholders.
- Provide clear and concise explanations of financial data.
- Prepare a full set of accounts/financials.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Auditing:
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Respond to audit queries and provide necessary documentation.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimal 2 years of experience in accounting and finance department.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
