  • The Quality Operations Director combines process quality assurance with customer product quality and drives compliance to the Plexus Quality Management System and organizational goals.
  • This role partners closely with operations teams in manufacturing, service and customer management.
  • The Director will focus on quality and delivery targets while minimizing the Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) and improving operational efficiency.
  • This is a key indirect leadership role, responsible for leading the Quality Operations Function for multiple Plexus sites within a Geographical Region, Business Unit or Industry Segment.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  1. Contribute to the development of the Global Quality Operations Strategy and own implementation within the assigned area of responsibility. Turning strategy into action will include being responsible for quality planning to meet existing Customer demand and supporting Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities for smooth product launch and ramp to volume. Quality Planning responsibilities include enterprise risk management activities, dashboards and governance models to drive execution.
  2. Embody the Plexus Culture of Quality coaching, teaching and mentoring influencers in such a way to make culture a positive differentiator for Customers. Direct quality maturity and operational excellence assessments identifying trends, sharing best practices and driving a continual improvement mindset through the organization.
  3. Drive standard work and process efficiency in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), First Article Inspection (FAI), Process Failure Modes Effects and Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans. Define quality’s involvement in shop floor management systems and lead high visibility customer escalations through effective use of available resources.
  4. Guide teams in data analysis and advanced problem solving techniques through the use of statistics, customer complaints, investigations and corrective and preventive actions. Apply a predictive mindset able to connect multiple points of data in a dynamic manufacturing environment for early detection and action. Enforce standards for traceability, containment and defect disposition throughout areas of assignment.
  5. Responsible to exemplify and hold their team accountable to demonstrating the Plexus Core Values. Leader will focus on evaluating potential, driving succession planning, and ensuring their employees receive the development and coaching required to realize their full potential.

Education / Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in the related field.
  • A combination of education, experience and time in the field will be taken into consideration, and internal candidates may have distinct requirements tailored to their demonstrated skills and contributions with the organization
  • Lean or Six Sigma Black belt certifications preferred
  • Other Qualifications:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact, influence and build consensus with internal and external senior-level decision makers.
    • Must have strong presentation skills and the ability to represent the organization in a professional manner.
    • Advanced decision making and problem solving skills with the ability to think conceptually, develop strategy and deliver results.
    • Employee must be an independent self-starter with the ability to work with people at all levels of the organization, especially executive management.
    • Must have good organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks in fast-paced environment and the ability to work with cross-organizational teams.
    • Detailed knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, TL9000, ISO 13485 and FDA GMP Quality System requirements required for this role.
