Job Summary:

The Lecturer in Bachelor of Hospitality Management (BHM) will be responsible for teaching undergraduate students, developing course materials, and contributing to research in the field of hospitality management. This role involves delivering high-quality education on various aspects of the hospitality industry, including hotel management, tourism, food and beverage management, and customer service. The ideal candidate will have experience in hospitality management, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to supporting students’ academic and career development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching: Design, prepare, and deliver engaging lectures, workshops, and seminars in areas such as hotel operations, food and beverage management, tourism, hospitality marketing, and event planning.
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and updating of course materials to ensure they are relevant to industry trends, academic standards, and student needs.
  • Student Assessment: Develop assessments, grade assignments, and provide constructive feedback to students to aid their learning and development.
  • Academic Advising: Provide guidance and mentorship to students regarding academic progress, career paths, and research projects.
  • Research and Scholarship: Conduct research in hospitality management, publish in academic journals, and contribute to the growth of the institution’s academic reputation.
  • Industry Engagement: Foster relationships with industry professionals and organizations to keep abreast of the latest trends and provide students with practical insights into the hospitality sector.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated with the latest hospitality management practices and teaching methodologies.
  • Departmental Contribution: Participate in departmental meetings, collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, and support institutional events and initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: A Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related field.
  • Experience: Previous teaching experience at the tertiary level is preferred; practical experience in the hospitality industry is a significant advantage.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of hospitality management, hotel operations, food and beverage management, tourism, and customer service.
  • Skills: Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Industry Connections: Ability to leverage industry networks for educational and research purposes.
