The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing all financial aspects of ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Fraser Business Park, ensuring the hotel operates efficiently and profitably. This role involves financial planning, reporting, internal controls, cost management, and compliance with Malaysian financial regulations. The Financial Controller will play a critical role in financial decision-making, reporting to senior management, and ensuring all financial activities align with both corporate goals and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports.
- Ensure financial reports are accurate, complete, and comply with Malaysian Accounting Standards (MAS) and the Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS).
- Analyze financial results and provide insights to the General Manager and senior management to support decision-making.
- Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as RevPAR (Revenue per Available Room), ADR (Average Daily Rate), and GOP (Gross Operating Profit).
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage the annual budget, providing financial forecasts to senior management.
- Work closely with department heads to review their budgets, ensuring alignment with the hotel's overall strategy.
- Regularly update forecasts to reflect changes in business conditions or hotel performance.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard hotel assets, minimize financial risk, and prevent fraud or errors.
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, including the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and other applicable Malaysian tax regulations.
- Work with external auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with Malaysian financial reporting and taxation standards.
- Conduct regular audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Cash Flow and Liquidity Management:
- Oversee cash flow management to ensure the hotel maintains adequate liquidity for operations.
- Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring timely collections and payments.
- Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with local laws.
- Cost Control and Profitability Management:
- Implement cost control measures across all departments while maintaining high service standards.
- Regularly review departmental spending and suggest cost-saving initiatives.
- Monitor and control capital expenditures and ensure proper budgeting for new projects and renovations.
- Team Leadership and Staff Development:
- Lead the finance department, managing a team of accountants and financial staff.
- Provide mentorship, training, and support to team members to ensure efficiency and professional development.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance environment within the finance team.
- Financial Strategy and Advisory:
- Advise senior management on the financial health of the hotel and support strategic decision-making with financial analysis.
- Provide insights and recommendations on financial trends, investment opportunities, and potential risks.
- Contribute to the development of long-term strategies for growth, profitability, and sustainability.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) would be an advantage.
- Experience:
- At least 5-7 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a senior financial management role in the hotel industry.
- In-depth understanding of hotel financials, including revenue management, cost allocation, and budgeting.
- Experience working with Malaysian Accounting Standards (MAS) and Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) is essential.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SunSystems, SAP, or similar).
- Strong understanding of hotel-specific financial metrics, such as RevPAR, ADR, and GOPPAR.
- Familiarity with Malaysian tax laws, including GST, income tax, and payroll regulations.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Pay: RM8,000.00 - RM12,000.00 per month
